Yes Shakopee started out slow and yes it was in the Shako end the first 5 minutes of the game. But according to the shot count it was not 3-1 shots aginst look at the stats it was much closer.hockey fan 01 wrote:Chaska outshot and outplayed Shakopee 3-1. Too bad they are weak in net. They really deserved it.
As far as the Chaska Goalie I do not think it is fair you say she is weak in the net. The Chaska players have no one to blame but themselves.
If the Chaska players would warm up their goalie the way they are suppose to they would not have injured her within the first 1 minute of warmups. if you want to blame some one look at your team and their pregame warmup drills. goalies are not shooting targets for you to tee off on for the sake of taking slapshots, use the boards for that.
Are you for real. The girls are shooting from the blue line to warm her up. If she can not handle that they have a problem which it looks like they do. After watching the game they should just throw pucks in the air and have her work on catching them. They outplayed Shakopee and I believe the shots were closer to 30-15 in favor of Chaska. 5 shots in the first period 2 go in. Time for a reality check No excuses Pretty hard to blame the skaters when they fight back to tie it and then she misplays a pop up for Shakopee to go ahead.

Didn't see the warm ups, so I can't comment on the possible injury. But, "gmom29" is correct that a goalie is not simply a target for the shooters to warm up against. Watch a college or pro game and see how the skaters warm up separately, while only a couple of them warm up the goalie with close in wrist shots. That happens before the long range slap shots come, which no one shoots unless they first confirm the goalie is ready.
As for the play mentioned by "shooting," it was clear that the goalie was bumped into by the crowd of players while reaching for the popped up puck. Unfortunately for Chaska, she was outside her crease enough that the refs made the correct no call. Do not blame the goalie for the loss. She made some fantastic saves on point blank shots during the game that she had no business making.
Star Tribune listed saves by Chaska 3-9-13-25 and Shakopee 11-11-5-27. Chaska started strong and got the first goal. Then Shakopee got two quick and had the lead. Chaska tied it four times, but never led again. They did score two goals on only seven shots in the third period. But only because the Shakopee goalie is weak, right? Note the sarcasm, please.
It was a shootout type game and the result could have easily been reversed. Leave it at that.

Put your kid in the net if you think it is so easy!shooting wrote:Are you for real. The girls are shooting from the blue line to warm her up. The truth is your goalie was hurt by a player taking a slapshot from inside the top of the circle and not the blue line and the goalie was not warmed up because it was about the 4th or 5th slapshot ins succession that caught her in the elbow........
the medic on duty said it was possible it was broken but she played through it. Was she 100% No.
But the other alternative was the other goalie, that was the coaches call.

Chaska VS Shakopee
Wow Electricsaber, you not only missed the warm ups, you missed most of the game.
Chaska goalie made some nice saves, but the saves in the Star Tribune were clearly over-stated. It looks like 8 shots or so were added to Shakopees shots in the 3rd period as well as a couple per period.
Chaska outplayed Shakopee in every aspect but the final score.
So be it.
Good luck

Went to the Shakopee game vs Chaska last night. Not many games being played. I had heard these posts on Shakopee being scrappy. They where scrappy and very young but Chaska was much stronger. No reason to appologize for a win. Maybe goalie was injured or usually plays better but was not her night. A lot of crazy goals on this night for both. MTKA will much prefer to play Shakopee on Tuesday. Shakopee will not put any pressure on Tonka and have a very tough time breaking out. Just my thoughts.

I think the EP/Edina game could be close. I think that there is a lot of familiarity between the two teams. Many of the girls skate together in the summer. Familiarity will make the game closer than I think it should be. In the end I think Edina has too much depth for EP. I'm not sure about EP's goaltending. If EP's goaltender is outstanding it could be tough sledding for Edina which at times has a hard time scoring. I say Edina by 2 with an empty net goal.penaltyshot wrote:EDINA (5) Eden Prairie (2) - EP's (1st) line can skate with them
MTKA (5) Shakopee (0) - I would be surprised if this is close, No disrespect for Shakopee but MTKA has good goaltending and balance.
It is getting fun!
Other thoughts?
Shakopee has decent goaltending but I don't think they can compete with Minnetonka. Nikki Anderson and the goalie will have to be on fire to make this a close game.

Stop
Hello, I have nothing else to do right now so I think I'm going to post who I think will win the sections, Jefferson. Overall, Solid squad, seriously if these girls don't make it, I don't know who will.

I'm going to assume you didn't know that this is a GIRLS forum.
Now go back to your homework.

yes im sorry but jefferson is already out of the section and has no chance. as for the chaska shakopee game, gmom29, a goalie is a target in hockey. if a goalie cant handle a slapshot in warmups they may need to work on that. if you think a girl wont wind up from the top of the circles to take a shot in the game you are clearly mistaken. especially when the 2 goals shakopee had that were nice were slapshots from the tops of the circles. over all seeing that game chaska deserved it and tonka would have much rather play shakopee in the game tonight. best of luck to all teams.
i also agree that eden praire would give edina a run for there money. Eden praire has a solid top line and has proved most wrong this year.
best of luck to all teams at state!

Yep! Slapshots are taken during warm up but they are usually after the goalie has been warmed up first, by the way our goalie was properly warmed up before before slapshots were taken in both games if you watched.shooting wrote:I was at the games tonight all 4 teams took slap shots during warm ups no one got hurt or made excuses a couple of good gsmes to watch. Good luck to tonka and edina on Friday look forward to a good game.
I think you are kind of missing the point , If you are going to hurt your goalie during a barage of slapshots before the goalie has had an Opportunity to warm up "and she did not have that", then you need to take a little responsibility and not blame the goalie for being weak and that is the point. the truth is she played the game hurt.
I did not see any of you on here stating what a good job she did when she kept you in the game against Minnetonka when you were outshot 35-14

Seriously
Maybe, the goalie in question needs to step out of the crease and get warmed up...players are not mind readers, if the goalie isn't ready then step out and let the backup take the warmups.
You refer back the the Minnetonka game, in December??? That's the last game you can remember?
Lets move on, and use this post for what it is meant for....teams still in the AA race.

I don't know anything about the situation with this goalie but I would say being "warmed up" would have nothing to do with this type of injury. If she was facing the shooter on slap shot and she recieved an injury from the impact of a slap shot in her upper arm or elbow. I would take a close look at the fit and strings/straps of her upper body protection. Any HS goalie should be in a high quality intermediate or adult sized upper body chest and wings. These are made to the same spec as the pros wear and you can quite confidently face a 100 MPH slapshot with out fear of anything but a stinger. This is not the same equipment we had 20 years ago. Still amazes me when I take a hard shot and it doesn't hurt like it used to.
To make movement more natural most manufactures will have a number of adjustable hinges in the padding, these need to be checked on a regular basis to make sure they still give good coverage. My daughters Vaughn used to have a string that yould come loose now and the and expose part of her wrist. She learned the hard way to always check that one. Bottom line check your goalies equipment regularly, replace it when it needs it, and don't go with the cheapest or jr sized.
Coaches should make there captins aware that goalies should get time to recover between shots in warm ups and head shots should be avoided but otherwise shooters should be able to grip it and rip it. I coach, play, and parent the position.
