To help you out a little bit. I haven't seen too many games. The games that I have seen shows very little student support from the students. Now to you Southernhockey 44, how hard is it to spell spartans? How hard is it to spell the other 200 or some words that you incorrectly spelled? Don't be so quick to judge what others are saying because your english skills aren't too spectacular. Is that why you only played juniors? Couldn't get into college?spartanfan2121 wrote:HA! gayo spartans? I mean Mayo has been pretty bad at making chants and bringing a good sized student section to games from the games I have seen, but I mean come on you honestly say gayo? That is just pathetic, i thought Mayo struggled with things to say all this time.[/quoteSouthrenHockey44 wrote: "Its not what you know its who you know.." we all will end up better than the GAYO spartians....point set match......and just admit you all are jelous that you dont bleed the blue and silver and we all can just have it settled right now....

Re: Players need to be responsible for thier actions!!!!
Mouthguards Century has only a couple of kids that wear them, also wear the helmets as they are designed to be worn. Lastly, and this is tough to do anything about but keep your head up, far too many kids try do duck a check leading to a shot to the head that would have otherwise been at the shoulder. Kids turtleing to avoid a check leads to heads hitting the boards and knees hitting heads. Taking the legs out from under an opponent throwing a legal check should be illegal, the potential for injury, even a serious injury is there.Sioux Fan wrote:I think the point that is very important to learn from last nights game that in an emotional game crosstown and for the Big Nine championship that the players need to be responsible for thier actions.
Way to much lipservice to opponents and the officials.
Otherwise it was a fun game and if the teams were in better condition and able to play the third period at pace it would have even been more exciting.
Congratulations to both goaltenders and coaching staffs for keeping the lid on a very spirited game last night.
Too bad these kids grew up with Terrell Owens. Other than that I really enjoyed the effort too bad about the head injuries on Century.
I did not see the hits but think the helmets need to be improved I see more and more concussions than ever.
Maybe Doc Stuart has some insite as to it becoming more prevalant.
three on one team in a game is the most I have ever seen.
One thing is that players have to respect each other and not try to injure with high hits high sticks and dangerous checks along the boards.
Respect the officials
Respect the Opponent
Respect your coaches
Most of all respect your teammates and yourself.
Don't do anything that will hurt the guys you care about the most.
Souix Fan,
You hit the nail on the head, how hockey is played, this needs to be addressed. Starting at the Youth Level
I am not sure that even if players wore the best designed football helmets and their mouthguards to play hockey that there would be a significant reduction in concussions. Like that is going to happen any time soon.
As for the helmet issue, I had a conversation with Dr. Stuart 5 years ago as to which hockey helmet provided the most protection for players, he recommended the Bauer 5000.
Other than the Cascade helmet, has there been any real significant changes since that time?
Does the Cascade actually afford more protection against concussions, are there any independent studies that show it ?
I have not seen any.
