10-YEAR HISTORY OF SECTIONS - seeds studied

Post by O-townClown »

1999-2008

10 years x 8 sections (AA) = 80

49 #1 seeds advanced (61.3%)
20 #2 seeds (25%)
7 #3 (8.8%)
3 #4 (3.8%, includes 12-11-2 Cloquet in 2008)
1 #5 in 2003 (Section V)

Section 1, Lakeville. I think he put section 5 by accident.

I will completely admit I stand corrected in not seeing the:
#5 seeded Lakeville team in 2003 (AA)
#4 seeded Hutchinson in 2000 (A)
#4 seeded Eastview in 2001 (AA)
#4 BSM in 2001 (A)
#5 Shakopee in 2005 (A)
in my thread:
http://www.ushsho.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=19047

The interesting points I thought were:
In AA, 4 finals match ups with a 5, 6, 7, or 8 seed.
In A, 2 finals match ups with a 5, 6, 7, or 8 seed.
In both classes, 37 1 v 2 finals match ups.

Despite the total of 2 non-top 4 winners, I maintain having the bottom seeds in the tournament is usually meaningless games for both teams.

Thanks for catching my errors. I probably misread my own spreadsheet!

Tartan, Woodbury, and Mayo out. Duluth East needed overtime.
