Haha, i bet you feel special after posting this. You feel big and stong, o yeah, look at me I can bash a team on the forums. Congrats bud, we will let the game speak for itself.smw1111 wrote:Afraid not my Northern buddies.......East isnt that great face to face thye are playing a team that is a decent matchup for them, but East would need help to actually win 3 games at the EX........Cretin is totally willing to play the physical POUND the crap out of you game. So I look for East to be tired even on Friday nite after the game with Cretin, and the game against Cretin isnt a gimme either.
As for 10-0 for East.....well I dont think so, I do see a 4-1 game though, and that score could go either way. If Cretin is tense East wins 4-1, and if Cretin is loose......I think it just might be 4-1 for them....if they played 10 times though East maybe 6 or 7 wins.....so Cretin is a dog.
I also think that you people that are East fans should not say that Cretin has no Hockey tradition....because that would be wrong. Cretin in the 50 and 60s use to be on par with the best in the state in public schools...
Alot of people would say that until the last 10 or so years East was just a annual rep from an average at best section.
Cretin proved the other night that they can stay composed even when a team takes them out of their tempo.........and as we know that is important come tourney time......because everyone wants to play their style of game......and good teams can still win when taken out of their game....and I dont mean by the REFS.......
At the tourney, Dont worry East fans the bad refs are usually stopped at the door....so there are NO EXCUSES.
This will not be a good game in my opinion and I have seen East play some this year, and they cant play with the Big teams of the metro.......Edina and EP.
So if you guys are the 4 seed wouldnt that mean that Cretin is the 5 seed.....most people would say on paper that is a closer matchup......than all of you Duluthies banging your chests.......bang on them all you want, your team is decent but not great.......and they will need help to get past the 2nd game......and actually their is a good chance they might not win round one against a young Cretin time that may have some nerves.....but I think that Cretin will come out and possibly pull off a nice upset....because they were supposed to be 1 and to the consolation in 2006 but they blew the doors off people that year and they were super young and talented that year too.......just like this year.....well this year they are even younger. So alot depends on coach O'Neill getting the team calm.....and I think he has some experience coaching in big games....and he has made some speeches in the past

[quote="saintpaulhockey"]Nothing wrong with a normal one period sentence structure! As a recent CDH grad, and player, bashing DE is not a good way to gain credibility/respect. DE, along with Blaine, is a half-inch behind Edina and EP as favorites of the tourney. CDH joins Hill and Moorhead as darkhorse picks with little actual chance of winning. It is simply obvious. Be reasonable.
I really am not worried about gain the respect of the people on this site, and putting some extra periods at the end of my sentences doesnt matter, what matters is the 3 letter after my name......PhD.
As a recent Cretin-DH grad, I would tell you to look at the last grad class at Cretin.........and find me it is easy to find me based on my user name on here.......and then look my name up on the internet and you will find very quickly who I am. I have a PhD, so proper english isnt that important on a blog site, especially on a site devoted to HS hockey. Any who cares about gaining the respect of a bunch of Duluthies anyways as far as hockey knowledge is.........so decades Duluth school carried ALOT of JOCK at the tourney....and now East has had some success in the last decade or two. Who cares, they are over rated, like almost every team that comes down, most often the promise doesnt meet the actual....atleast for Duluth Teams.

SMW you are really embarrassing yourself. This really proves how dissolutioned you are about this Cretin squad. DE will pound them on the boards and on the scoreboard. Just be thankful and happy you got to state and put a fork in it.Duluth 4 wrote:Haha, i bet you feel special after posting this. Re: No....East isnt a Legit Title contender
There are so many things wrong with your anaolgy of East. First off if you think East isn't going to be physical you clearly haven't seen them play. Not only are the forwards and defense talented but they hit hard. You clearly haven't seen Joe Arbour or Jayce Paulseth hit a kid. Don't fool yourself, if Cretin comes out physical then East will be twice as physical. Not only are they physical but they are extremely well conditioned. For the Elk River game Rand only played two lines of defense for the entire game with the exception of the end of the third period.smw1111 wrote:Afraid not my Northern buddies.......East isnt that great face to face thye are playing a team that is a decent matchup for them, but East would need help to actually win 3 games at the EX........Cretin is totally willing to play the physical POUND the crap out of you game. I don't recall any one saying Cretin has no hockey tradition. However people are saying that they don't think Cretin will be able to keep up with the Hounds. No one has dissed their program.
The Hounds worked hard each and every year to get into the tourney, even this year against an average Forest Lake team in the semi's. 7AA is not an average section.
Okay if East can't play with the big teams from the metro then what do you consider wins over schools such as Minnetonka (W 2-0) and White Bear Lake (W 6-3) Are they small schools? We also tied Centennial and even though we lost to Blaine it wasn't a blow out and East played decent (L 5-3).
No Cretin is not the fifth seed. The top four teams are ranked and then the other teams are randomly drawn to play the top seeds. Actually I think Hill Murray would be the fifth if they did it that way because they beat Edina earlier in the season, and they are last years state champs.
Our team is decent but not great? We have TWO DIVISION I RECRUITS. Our defense is one of the top three in the state if not the best. Our forwards get at least 45 plus shots on net on average. Randolph has won two state titles and has had multiple appearances. He knows how to win games and what to fix if things aren't going right for East. He just won his 400th game as this season. He is experienced and exactly what to do.
The Hounds won't be as easy to walk all over as you claim.

They were completely dismatled by Woodbury earlier this year and Woodbury had a great season when no one expected them to. Goaltending is marginal, at best, for Cretin. I think they're 0-2 and going home early.mj79 wrote:You're letting a couple newbies troll you, guys, in case you haven't noticed. Best to argue with those who know something. Hoops
Wow.....
You must have a great backround in Hockey with the name HOOPS. I am happy that Cretin made it, I have seen East play some this year, and it isnt about East's awesome D, which I think they have an excellent D, maybe you should read my previous posts, I talk about who determines tempo. We will see what happens, and I doubt I dont have the hockey knowledge to go up against an idiot named HOOPS.......maybe if your name was Don Cherry of something.

Re: No....East isnt a Legit Title contender
Your always comparing what would happen in a 10 game series, enough of that it's one game make your pick maybe make some good points and move on. You also always mention CDH being tense, that's your excuse for when they lose a game or have a close one you think they should have won by a few or more. No more excuses for them this is state you show up and play your best or get out. No excuses just like you said for the East fans so I don't want that excuse when they fall to East.smw1111 wrote:Afraid not my Northern buddies.......East isnt that great face to face thye are playing a team that is a decent matchup for them, but East would need help to actually win 3 games at the EX........Cretin is totally willing to play the physical POUND the crap out of you game. They didn't prove anything that night but they have a good PP. They may have been taken out of the tempo they like but listening to the game they didn't seem to be real composed, wasn't there so I could be wrong just what I thought listening.
No, this would make you good enough to not get a seed and be the random draw that East was given. CDH by most would be considered the 7th best team in this year I think. Since when did a match-up on paper matter anyway?
To finish this off, East along with the other 3 seeded teams are all legit title contenders, more so than others. You try to bash everyone Cretin plays just let the game be played you were wrong for the last game you had these little rants for and you will be again here.
By the way, how is that private school education working out? English must have been an elective for you too.

I have only seen them play once against my Bengals and we put up 4 and added an empty netter to finish your boys off....I was amazed!HoundHockeyFanatic wrote:I bet the majority of the Cretin supporters haven't seen East play. Just wait and see how amazing our defense is..

That being said they're the best defensive team in the tourney and I think they'll take this game.

They had some trouble with this very early in the year, particularly against Tonka and Wayzata. It hasn't been much of an issue since, though. Without looking at any numbers I'd guess they're penalized a little more than average. They are very capable of surviving these penalties, though; both the Tonka and Wayzata games ended in shutouts, even though the Hounds spent a good half hour in the box between the two games.marchmadness wrote:I haven't seen East play but I saw in another thread that they can get into penalty mode and spend a good portion of the game in the box. Is this true? Either way, I think both teams are going to have to stay out of the box. It will be the deciding factor.

I didn't see the game but no excuses I'm sure Blaine was the better team that night. However since then our D has dominated. You can't base a teams talent off of one loss either...BIGSEXY wrote:I have only seen them play once against my Bengals and we put up 4 and added an empty netter to finish your boys off....I was amazed!HoundHockeyFanatic wrote:I bet the majority of the Cretin supporters haven't seen East play. Re: No....East isnt a Legit Title contender
As a CDH fan, I hope the Raiders win, but unlike smw1111, I understand both how good this year's DE team is, and also how much history DE has as a program and how much weight that carries at a platform like the X.
THEORY
DE looks a lot like previous champion teams CDH '06 and Hill of '08 in the fact that they all enter with...
-A strong, quick group of forwards with strong two-way play and 1-3 very talented D-1 talents.
-A goalie that is very good, if not spectacular.
-A D-core flush with ability at both ends, that is every bit as tough as it is talented.
-The motivation coming on the heels of a close, and ultimately riveting section final
-With a state ranking that hovers between 3-8 all season.
-With the reputation as an exceptional, but not quite elite team. All three are not a popular choice to win it all, as each suffered from a few close losses to top opponents to keep them from earning the status as a favorite come tourney time.
PREDICTION
D.E's M.O has the look of a playoff monster, and they have the ability to bring their potential to fruition. CDH is young and without any glaring weaknesses, and while the Raiders can hang with any team in the state if they bring their best, they do overall look outmatched by DE. CDH will come out gunning, but look for D.E to have firm control on the pace and style of the play by the second intermission in a fast-paced, physcial game. I see DE winning in a game that is much closer on the scoreboard than on the stat-sheet. DE 4-2
STORYLINES
In a matchup between two very unfamiliar teams with little program intersection in recent history we will see...
-Two great coaches
-The 1st chapter in a potential rivalry between two juniors with future WCHA careers in junior defensemen Mark Alt (CDH, UMN recruit) and Derek Forbort (DE, UND)
-One traditional juggernaut (DE) hoping to capture a recently elusive title and an emerging power (CDH) hoping that this new generation of talent will not only live up to the high expectations created the teams of '06 and '07 but also cement their status as perennial contenders.
THIS GAME IS HUGE FOR BOTH PROGRAMS!! I can't wait.
