Before last year, the last time the Lumberjacks beat the Taters was January 2001 (play each other twice a year)- you must be talking "ancient history".elliott70 wrote:Not writing them off - just taking a bit of history and applying it to the future.SPUDNUT wrote:What trouble ? Think you're writin' off Moorhead waaaaay too early. Last year folks (including me) were sayin' "Its gonna be a long season for Tater Fans". Guess what - we were right ! They went all the way to the title game and, in the process, knocked off the Hornets, who were ranked #1 most of the season.
Since 1990, Spuds lead that series 34-6-2. I don't think they've had much "trouble with Bemidji", as you put it !
Well, what we are really talking about is bantam history and not that long ago. Say, 2009, 2008, 2007.....SPUDNUT wrote:Before last year, the last time the Lumberjacks beat the Taters was January 2001 (play each other twice a year)- you must be talking "ancient history".elliott70 wrote:Not writing them off - just taking a bit of history and applying it to the future.SPUDNUT wrote: What trouble ? We are talking about the kids that are now Srs, Jrs, Sos.
1990 - these kids were not born yet...
If we used that theory then Eveleth and Hallock and Staples would be the pre-season favorites....
And don't get me wrong, I think Moorhead will be a fine team and maybe playing on a Saturday night the first part of March...
but it is October....
so pre-season and I am goinmg with
Roseau, Bemidji and Moorhead...
but Brainerd and Tech seem to be gaining ground here at the 'bored'.

I'd pick Tech straight up to win the section, but they lost two players to Midget and Canadian juniors. Still, very strong. On second thought, I'll still take them in the section. In fact, I'll go out on a limb early. I'll take them for 1 this year and in 2010/2011. There, that ought to heat this board up.
1. Tech
2. Roseau
3. Moorhead
4. Bemidji
5. Buffalo
6. Brainerd
7.River Lakes
8. Monticello
9. Becker/Big Lake

1- Roseau - Always tough to beat...
2- Brainerd - This will be the best chance they have for a while.
3- Moorhead- Steady, not a killer team as in the past but still good
4- Tech - Should be good, maybe great, we will see.
5- Bemidji - Has been good in past with these groups...
6- Buffalo - Down a little...
7 -Monticello - May suprise a few, but .....
8- Northern Lakes - Sorry.... not much of a chance..
I think any one of the top 5 could win the section. the difference between them all is not too terribly great. Should be a fun season watching this unfold.
