Mayo 7 - F'bo 4

Mankato E 2 - F'bo 6

Owatonna 7 - F'bo 1

F'bo record for last 6 games is 2-4-0. Opponents 27 - F'bo 20. Who's going to steer this ship? Next up is Mound-Westonka and Austin (3 game win streak) and then off to River Lakes Tourney. Common opponent w/ RL is NWC who beat RL 4-1. Looks like F'bo has a chance to get their course corrected in that game. F'bo has some talented scorers so something else is holding them back.
All 4 losses to "AA" schools. NWC and Buffalo are big schools when you add in the "coop" and they are good hockey teams. Faribault showed that it is one of the best A schools in the state Saturday against MoundWestonka and the have also beat West handily.

No worries on the Green front. Losses have all come to good teams from AA, so we are in good shape for Sections.

Interesting game summary...

First: F-Bergland, 11:00; F-Bergland (Salmonsen), 11:09. Second: F-Knack (Salmonsen, Bergland), 3:05; MW-Kuehl (Chase), 3:37; F-Bergland (Salmonson), 3:59; MW-Kuehl (Chase, Barthel), 4:22; MW-Chase (Kuehl, Holmen), 14:39; MW-Kuehl (Chase), 15:45. Third: MW-Barthel (Kuehl, Johnson), 0:48, pp; F-Bergland (Dickison), 3:02; F-Bergland (Johnson, Dickison), 7:28; MW-Kuehl (Holmen), 9:02. Saves: F-Seitz 11-8-10-9--38; MW-Scobee 4-x-x-x--4, MW-Hall x-3-7-0--10.

Bergland 5 goals, 1 assist
Kuehl 4 goals, 2 assists
Shots favored MW 44-20.
Looks like MW really wanted it in OT. Shots were 9-0.

Each team needs somebody else that can score. I wonder why MW's schedule is so light this year? Their opponent with the best record so far is Mankato West (8-3-0). Tartan, New Ulm and Totino-Grace have combined 6 wins.

In a similar game, Mayo won at Chaska 3-2 and I heard the shot were around 40-15 but I can't find stats online.

Maybe Bergland will transfer to JM? We only have 4 goals in our last 6 games. Ouch.

I never knew much about NWC so I looked up their co-op. 2889 combined enrollment! Two of their three schools are larger than F'bo.

Buffalo is not that big of a school they probably have about 400-500 more kids in their school than Fbo’s. Now NWC they have twice as many as Fb’o to choose from.
Now think about Buffalo having to play some schools nearly twice their size.

Buffalo has a huge student population to draw from. They have Buffalo, Delano, Rockford, Howard Lake-Waverly, and Maple Lake. Add up those five school districts and you're at approximently 3000 students.

For the record..not one player from Rockford, Howard Lake-Waverly or Maple Lake. The co-op is entirely Buffalo & Delano.

Also, they struggle to field a JV team even without a 14U team.

Now you 1A folks can continue fighting! :D

MW plays in the Missispi 8, so they do play NRC and Buffalo in leauge.

Fbo have other girls who can score. Johnson has been out last 5 games and was only 75% for the Mound game. When you get that line going again, they are a very good line that can make plays and move the puck. 3 of Bergland's goals were set up on good passing plays. The second line center, Walker, can also put the puck in the net.

Penalties were 6-1 against Fbo, got a little hometowned. The girls got a little tired at the end. Still a great game to watch and a good measuring stick for Fbo.

Fighting? Surely you jest. I'm trying to lure Bergland to JM assuming that F89F is a relative. Imagine...the JM class of 2011 with another goal scorer.

Also for the record F'bo and none of the Rochester teams have JV.

Every co-op can say that same thing...Dodge County includes Dover-Eyota, Pine Island, Hayfield, Triton, and Byron in addition to the host Kasson-Mantorville. I'm not positive since I don't have a kid there but I think they have 1 from DE, 0 from Triton, 0 from Hayfield and 0 from Pine Island. I don't know how the logistics work out in Rochester but JM is landlocked and has the highest minority and lower income population in town. This is not a strong base to build from but we have to live with it.

Like in any game...you can't score unless you have teammates that pass the puck. Stats look a little lopsided on the Faribault team.

I agree with Falcon 89...others can't score if they aren't passed the puck. Seems like MW Kuehl passes more that Bergland. Look at the stats, a little lopsided on the Faribault side.

I agree with Falcon 89. Both teams have other players that can put the puck in the net, but you have to have teammates to pass the puck. MW's Kuehl passes. Looks as if Faribault's Berglands stats are a little lopsided. Team play will help Faribault beat the big schools. Can't skate thru people.

Wow it sure is nice in here without having to read posts from the annoying A.L. and Austin folks. My prediction tonight on the Fbo-Austin game:

Fbo 6 Austin 1.

RSI must of gotten ran over by the train, so RIP RSI, we will miss you.

Faribault 6 Austin 2. O.k. I was one goal off. Faribault's U-14 beat Austin's J.V. 4-1 and Fbo was missing it's 2 best players on JV. Looks like a long dry spell for Austin in the years to come.

Faribault was missing its to best players vs Austin????...I read online that Salmonsen had a hat trick and Bergland, Johnson and Walker all had goals or assists...who were they missing?

Groupie, please read again. The part where it indicates that Fbo was missing it's 2 best players was in the same sentence as the JV score, i.e. it was refering 2 the J.V. game.

I would like to note that Wagner got a hat trick with Schammel picking up one other goal. Alleva got the final got. Looks like Alleva wasnt there whole team??
They have many more players who have some points, according to Mghca, Schammel, Wagner, Gorman, and the Haley sisters have points too.
My prediction is RW and faribo in section finals with RW coming out on top 5-2

Dominating performance by the Wingers. Could have been worse, but decent goaltending kept it close for the Falcons. Shut out Bergland, which many haven't been able to do.

Competing in the tough Missota conference pays huge dividends when playing non-conference games.

After talking to several Faribault parents, it sounds as if Faribault was not on thier game. Heard defense turned the puck over numerous times in front of net and Redwing capitalized on those errors. And one parent said Rose only came off the ice 2-3 times and looked tired thru out game.
This game will be a warm up for the game that will matter come section finals. Then Faribault will turn it up, but I am guessing so will Rose.
Section finals- my prediction....Faribault 4 Redwing 2

No excuses, RW played well and they are a well coached team.

Fbo will be ready in Sections and have this fresh in their memory, maybe RW will be a little overconfident.

To say that they don't rely on Rose is just crazy talk. She is their team, hands down. Everything runs through her and they able to do things that they couldn't if she wasnt't on the ice the whole game. They take so many chances in their defensive zone with her out there and they can break the puck out so much easier with her handling it. If she wasn't the team, she wouldn't be out there 9/10 of the game.

Once again to the Winger faithful, this is not a rip, it's just reality. I'm not a Rosie hater, nor am I putting down the other players. Enjoy having her on the team this year, because you will miss her next year.

I have seen her play several times she is a very good player and on the ice most of the time, They need to enjoy the rosie ride because his other girls aren't getting the experience they will need for next year. Gottal love having a D1 player available as a D for most of the game. Good luck girls the year is winding down.

Put it in context.... as opposed to the Big 9. There are some good teams in the Big 9, but top to bottom the Missota is a lot tougher.

That makes the comment a little bit better...but I think the big 9 went to only one round of conference games for everyone, giving them a chance to schedule better non-conference or they could play a 2nd big 9 game but as a non-conference game...not a good way to decide a conference champion.
