I spoke to someone about Forest Lake last week and was told that the person in charge had forgotten to enter them into their district tournament! They played in the District 4 league but should have gone to another District Tournament. Sorry I don't know which one.

Pretty sure Alex beat Willmar in whatever section they play in.

I heard that too. Looking at the map in the VFW rules, both Alex and Willmar could be in District 6 but since Brainerd is the winner there, I guess they must be in District 5? I wish that map had some landmarks on it.

Anybody know anything about District 3?

Good Luck to the 2 Dist. 10 A Bantam teams that are playing in the State tournaments in these upcoming weekends:

Elk River - A Bantam State Tournament
Coon Rapids - VFW A Bantam State Tournament

Anybody from District 3 and 5 that knows who would be their representative in the VFW State Tournament? Do they just forfeit the game? Can't find anything on the websites to show anyone played in a district playoff format for the chance to play in the State Tournament.

Multiple sources report that Alexandria beat Willmar in a qualifier game, thinking that was for District 5.

District 3 seems to be a black hole.

Alexandria is district 5.

District 3 is the SW corner of the State.

They have chosen to not send a team before??? Marshall has represented them. Other teams completely guessing include Fairibult, New Prague, Luverne, Owatonna. Not sure who is VFW.

Check out Roseau Youth Hockey website for the brackets for the VFW State Tournament. District 5 didn't put anyone in and it looks like they asked Mounds View to play in the Tournament. They were runner ups to Woodbury in District #4 play.

Games are
Upper Bracket

Duluth East vs Roseau
Coon Rapids vs Alexandria

Lower Bracket

Woodbury vs Brainerd

Rochester vs Mounds View
Lakeville North vs Thief River Falls

Winner of Rochester/MV plays the winner of Lakeville North/TRF and the winner of that game will play the winner of Woodbury/Brainerd.

It would be nice to see Duluth East and Woodbury in the finals for the final Bantam A game of the season pitting 2 of the most consistent top rated teams during the entire season!

Here is the link to the Brackets

That would be a good championship game to watch. If, I remember correctly during the season Woodbury and Rochester faced each other twice and they both won a game so that would also be a good match up in the semi's. MV lost a close one with Woodbury. In the upper bracket Roseau/Duluth East game will be the better of the 2 with 2 good teams facing each other, Coon Rapids/Alexandria I foresee Coon Rapids taking this one then to face the winner of Roseau/Duluth East game ??

Was just reviewing the VFW brackets. Does anyone know how the teams were assigned? Looks like the lower bracket teams have to win 2 games on Saturday after playing a game on Friday to advance to the championship game. The upper bracket teams only play once Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The extra game on Saturday could make a big difference as to the winners on Sunday..........

Not to slight any teams that have earned the right to play in the VFW tournament. But an East verse Woodbury would be a very good game. I think East will be hungry for this one after getting knocked out at MAHA regions. Should be a darn good tournament. Cheering on Roseau to win in the event but I think they are pretty young group.

the unbalanced brackets have been around for some time, last year Lakeville South came from extra game side and won the tourney, a little tougher road for those teams with the additional game but it can be done.

So for the top bracket, it looks as though the first game is the most important for DE and Roseau. I've read very little about CR and Alex as far as top teams in the state. And with the bottom bracket playing that one extra game and the 2 northern team having a tad more rest and probably a fairly fun game for their semi-final game. i like onr of the Northern teams to win this one.

District 3 representative in past years was rotated between districts runner-ups. I know last year Bemidji and Moorhead both went from District 9. I know in some recent years they have been able to represent themselves but not very often.

All the games are being played at the "Little Ralph"

Good Luck Roseau!!
