To all of you who think that some of the class A private schools should move up a class: there is no reason for it. Ok so Breck won back to back state championships...they had a good grade. Breck had just over 40 players try out this year (barely enough for two full teams). If Breck moved up a class they would be competing with schools that get 60-80 kids trying out. How would this be fair? In addition, I don't see how Breck was not classy. Yes, the celebrated, just like every other team who has ever won a state tournament...everyone chill out, no need to freak out because your team lost.

Nobody is "complaining" cuz their team lost, its because the kid in the interview conducted himself as a cocky little ............, and this wasnt the first "classless" incident breck has had. It is Breck's choice to play a or aa. The number of kids trying out is a poor arguement, the 40 they have to pick from is far different than the 40 to choose from at most other schools. I have no bone to pick with Breck but the fact that they have so many quality players from such a small group trying out is no coincidence. I'm sure their are a number of kids at Breck that don't try out simply because they know the numbers and don't bother. Congrats, and I'm sure they'll be back with another powerhouse before to long.

the out state idea sounds good, after all, the northern teams dont have the enrollment and other areas to pick kids from.

That would be nice, but it will never happen. They would have to change sections, and exactly where do you draw the line between a city team and out state team?

Are you kidding me? THere are plenty of out-state schools who have to play AA that would be thrilled to have 40 kids to choose from. You city people don't get, not to mention 40 RECRUITED kids. Quit whinig. Let's take the kids within your school boundaries and see what you got- like Hermantown. I would like to know how many kids they had try-out this year? Let's hear it Hermantown? Well considering that Breck had 3 kids that had never played hockey before...i guess not all of them were recruited.
Pick your heads up boys from Hermantown!! You played a great season and a great tourney!! And IMO you outplayed Breck today. It's a game of lucky and sometimes unlucky bounces, sometimes they go your way and sometimes not. Today they didn't. But congratulations and remember....you are the 2010 PUBLIC SCHOOL CLASS A STATE CHAMPIONS!!!

Yeah it was good that the kid drove to the net but the opposite side defenseman did the right thing with a poke check and when the puck went to the air it went off the Mustang's glove and into the net. Its not as if he planned it that way. He didn't even shoot the puck off his stick. Therefore, FLUKE.
Congrats to Hermantown on being the better team today. The scoreboard doesn't tell the whole story, just the story everyone will read.
Also, congrats to the Mustangs, I guess. Even though they won back to back titles and are a private school I don't think they should be forced to play AA hockey. Its always good to have those teams to hate in each class, and its easy to hate private schools so they should stay put. They are like the Yankees.

And your right, its awful when the rich spoiled kids from Breck win the championship, at least in AA the struggling economies of Edina and Minnetonka were represented.

I bet Hermantown's roster has kids from outside of the city line. Next year with Duluth combining to 2 schools. I bet some kids will go to Hermantown, Marshall and East..

EVERY PLAYER on the Hermantown team lives in Hermantown!! PERIOD!!
Most have played together since mini-mites. Only one that comes to mind that hasn't played ALL of his youth hockey there is Jared Thomas. His family moved there when he was either a squirt or a pee-wee. And there is no open enrollment in Hermantown at the HS level. It is over capacity now.
Same is true for the team that went undefeated and won state in 07. They all played there since mites with the exception of the goalie Hardy. His family moved to Hermantown from Colorado when he was a Bantam.
Hemantowns success has come with homegrown talent and they are probably the only hockey team from the area that hasn't lost a single player to Marshall. Says alot for the program. They might not get a chance to play till thay are Sr's and they stay anyway.
