If you want to crown em, then crown em!

Elk River #1 & Maple Grove #2? I guess everyone is playing for 3rd place!
What about Minnetonka, NWC, Wayzata, Edina, EP? Maybe we should let them get through tryouts before we get to excited about our teams!
Let the season begin!

I feel a change in power this year. So Maple Grove should have 3 girls maybe 4 that can really play, anyone know what kind of talant they have between the pipes?

Maybe - alot of teams have 3-4 solid players and 1 beast, I think this year goalies are really going to be tested. Time will tell.

Agreed! Can we see how the first half goes and then start with trash talking!

Just so were clear, Edina has over 80 girls trying out for 15 spots. If ya think that they won't put together a very good team, you're wrong. Wish every association could role 80 girls at the each level!

Tough to fight the Edina numbers. If your best athletes play hockey instead of basketball, etc. they'll always be strong. It helps to avoid having the weaker 3rd line that most other teams must contend with.

Makes you wonder why the Edina boys coach plays with such a short bench. Even though I like to see Edina lose, it is aggevating to see such valuable resources squandered.

To have three strong lines you need to start playing three lines early and continue on through HS. Start watching Eden Prairie's girl HS team in a couple of years. Their U14A team has been playing 3 lines since U8, and the B teams do pretty much the same. They don't have to worry about losing "key" players to other programs because there are no "key" players to lose.

EPDad, I agree. Being from another team in D6, my daughter played Edina and EP 12UA and 14UA a combined 25-30 times over the last 3 years. Edina consistently shortens their bench, but I don't notice it much or at all for EP. I guess the good news is that it takes depth away from Edina's HS program, so it will work to our advantage when we beat them up in HS over the next 3 years.

New coach for Edina this year at 12A and I bet they roll their lines. Based on last night's scrimmage, where they had FIVE lines, their top 3 lines looked pretty even. Some kids who'll skate past you, some who'll skate around you, and some who'll skate through you. They'll be young, maybe a little small, but I bet by March, they'll be pretty good.

Let's hope "New coach" = "Smart coach". Even if they wear green I hate seeing girls sitting on the bench.

Edina's already scrimmaging and we don't even have tryouts for another week. We've got some catching up to do. It will be interesting to see if anything changes at 14U. Is last year's 12UA coach coaching the same girls (those 1st year 14U) at 14UA this season?

Does anyone know how D6 sets up? I was looking around and saw that the D3 teams seem to have their own schedule, not combined with D6 this year?

How many 12A teams in D6?

Tonka
Edina
C-C
Bloomington
EP
Burnsville
PL/S
...

Just 7?

D3 is combined with D5 this year.
12A in D3 are Armstrong/Hopkins, Mound/Crow River, Osseo/Maple Grove, Wayzata, Orono, & Mpls Park
12A in D5 are North Wright County, Buffalo, St. Cloud, Sartell, Sauk Rapids, & Hutchinson

D6 is playing within itself, just 7 teams at 12A level.

Same with D2; they're not co-oping with any other district for 12A league play. There are 8 teams:
Forest Lake
Highland Central
Mahtomedi
Mounds View
Roseville
Stillwater
Tartan/North St. Paul
White Bear Lake

Each team plays each other 3 times, for a total of 21 league games.

Well, they did pull a couple associations out of D6 and replaced them with organizations without A teams.

7 Teams in D6, but probably 3 or 4 of the top 6 in State. State Champ comes out of D6 again - the only question is will it be a team other than EP or Edina. It might be time for Chaska or Minnetonka to step up?

I think Elk River is SOLID! And, why does everyone keep mentioning EP/Edina....I agree, in D6 Mtka and Chaska are at the top.

I think EP and Edina's numbers will be just too formidable again. Stronger teams from 1-15 without that bottom 3 that sometimes holds a team back.

Elk River............seriously? They charge $1 for heat! Luv all of them, but not in the top 5 at this point! Go EP, Edina, Spuds, & of course NWC!
