To set things straight it has been W.A.H.A that has placed restrictions on the Wisconsin Fire Hockey Club. For a number of years the Fire organization has played loose with registration requirements as set by USA Hockey and W.A.H.A. and the final straw was the having of coaches on the roster who at the time were not certified to coach a USA Hockey/W.A.H.A. registered team. That incident brought the Fire's irregularity's to the attention of the Central District registrar and also the USA Hockey registrar which brought embarrassment to W.A.H.A. That started the restrictions now in affect and the change in status from Tier I to Tier II Unattached along with 2 other W.A.H.A. registered teams.
W.A.H.A. states their organization is for Wisconsin residents and especially the Tier I level is for the elite development of Wisconsin residents. W.A.H.A can choose to ignore any state's residency requirements for players to leave their home state, in reality W.A.H.A is afraid of loosing players and even associations along their western border to Mn Hockey. Since a number of Wisconsin associations already participate in Mn Hockey leagues it would be only a matter of time before some might petition to leave W.A.H.A. and go to Mn Hockey.

That is simply not true. If a 99 Fire parent is currently choosing an option other than association hockey for his peewee aged kid, why would you assume that parent will want a bantam aged kid in the association? Two more years of Fire hockey after this one, and the first half 99s will be freshman. As far as I know, the high school league isn't interested in the Fire, or WAHA rules.old goalie85 wrote:No STATUS = Sit out when you come home to play.[ Everyone comes home sooner or later]

GreatOne, you and HOTG need to drink the Orangekoolaid like me and you will begin to see things clearly like I do! If you guys are going to criticize people you need to get your facts strait so you don't
yourselves.
GreatOne - you are correct when you say that the Fire don't play in the WAHA playdowns or qualify for Nationals but.........
I will repeat myself again, go to www.nationalhockeyrankings.com and click on club info, select Wisconsin, select Fire Hockey, and what do you see?? You see the Fire Hockey Club listed as a Tier 1 Independent team.
old goalie - No Status = Sit out when you come home to play. The Fire and their Tier 1 Status = "Priceless" Come home and play "A" level hockey without sitting out!
CLASS DISMISSED BOYS!

I have no quarrel here koolaid but I am from WI and take part in WAHA. For the record the Fire status is Unclassified/No Status. Your link to those rankings are not official. They are merely a ranking site and they rank the Fire in the Tier 1 category because it is the schedule they play and the caliber of team they are. However, they officially have no status are are not officially a Tier 1 team and are not recognized as such by WAHA (their governing state body) or USA Hockey (their governing national body). I hope this clears up any questions as to the Fire's Tier 1 status or lack there ofOrangeKoolaid wrote:GreatOne, you and HOTG need to drink the Orangekoolaid like me and you will begin to see things clearly like I do! JSR - I have no quarrel either but what you are telling me then is that they are an independent Tier 2 team? I just confused as to why they were list as a Tier 2 independent team a year ago on the same site and now they are listed on the site as a Tier 1 independent team. I was informed that back in about August that representatives from the Fire and their attorneys were in Colarado to meet with I believe people from USA hockey and possibly a judge was involved. I understand that the meeting was about immediately changing their (the Fire) status to Tier 1 from Tier 2. I understand that some rule was changed by USA hockey after the filing deadline for Tier status so the Fire were in jeopardy of possibly losing 4-5 kids off of I believe the 99 team. Again, I understand that the Fire felt that because the rule was changed after the filing deadline that it was unfair and they were granted Tier 1 status. I was told by a parent directly that the Fire have Tier 1 status.
Towelie - I have no issue with JSR but maybe JSR is unaware of their (Fire) reclassification. I'm not ready for the towel yet.
Oldie - you would get more respect if you actually put some effort into backing up what you say instead of backing comments that sound good to you. I agree that JSR has and inside track on WAHA but I have yet to see anything that is in writing and current that says that the Fire currently have Tier 2 or unclassified status.

The lawyer traveling to Colorado...don't know, but I know it must have been for not, because they are unclassified, and have been all season. It wouldn't be the first time BM told a parent one thing and something totally different occurred...that I do believe. Throw the Towelie in OKA.OrangeKoolaid wrote:JSR - I have no quarrel either but what you are telling me then is that they are an independent Tier 2 team? Oh.
I don't think there must be a whole lot to talk about 1) if this topic gets this many posts, 2) if we feel compelled to post about how many posts there are on this topic.
I guess I'm not sure what all the fuss is about; we've got the ADM, MH is the most awesome organization that ever existed, and local associations are not only well run and entirely concerned with the children and their development but more family fun than the Wisconsin Dells - the Fire parents are obviously insane to have chosen a different option, and their children will not be able to keep up with the talent developed locally, so what's all the hub-bub?
JSR, no offense, but the WAHA website is a disaster. Without a guide I was unable to figure out much of anything regarding teams invited to playdown to represent Wisconsin at the district tourney. It is purely a guess, but it looks like the Capitals are the only Tier I team in Wisconsin. I could not find anything regarding the official status of the Fire, so please enlighten those of us previously uninterested, and tell us where to find this information. OG85, no offense, but I wouldn't be looking for these kids to sit out in anticipation of joining an association to which they don't want to be associated.

It appears the 2000 Fire are ranked 5th in the nation in the AAA grouping.InigoMontoya wrote:Page 26 of what? I guess I'm now interested in the official status of the Fire. Where is it stated officially?
