I will say that last call was bad. But I think they still had the option of killing the penalty. Or did the refs put the puck in the net?
what we have learned is that Roso is the best. Warroad cheats.
Why can the fine people of Roso not realize that in the last 20 years they just dont have what it takes to win this game.
Honestly Roseau, last night, had what it took to win that particular game. But what we are saying if you don't already get that. The Reffing took that away from the Rams. I don't care if the calls were against the Rams or the Warriors. I just hate when the refs figure into the outcome of the game weather the Rams Win or the Warriors win. The Refs need to take into consideration in that point of the game what is going on and those two were oblivious to what was going on! And last night those two officating the game blew it!
What I am saying is that each and EVERY time Warroad wins this game the Roso fans cry foul. Warroad never was behind all night hard to say roso should have won. Suck it up and win the next one.

Yeah and Warroad doen't when they lose. 5-3 in overtime have you ever in your life througout the history of hockey remember a 5-3 in overtime. By the way what the heck is going on with the Warroad program, why are the youth teams getting beat so bad? Back in my day 23 years ago we always battled with Warroad because they where good all the way through the program, Tell me what is happening?

Will that finally remove the black eye left by the 15-1 game in 04?

Did the 04 game finally remove the ice bag from your groin left by the 16-0 game in 78?

This just in. Top scientists analyzed the game data and found out Roseau's goalie had a .722 save %. This is believed to be major cause of their loss.

Honestly, has it ever occurred to anyone that when Warroad wins at home, it's the refs. Now, apparently when they win on the road its because they bribe the refs. Absolutely crazy. Lets not forget Warroad already beat Roseau once before this game.

I bet it really boosts your confidence predicting this "onslaught" of pain against Warroad in the upcoming future when you most likely were on the wrong end of the beating stick throughout your hockey career! If I remember correctly, the best parts of that 15-1 game were watching the Roseau goalie, Martinson, attempt to pull himself only to be denied by the coach and sent back to the goal. Also, wasn't the lone Ram goal scored from red line?

This whole string of comments is such a great example of how strong the Roseau/Warroad rivalry runs deep in our blood. Young and old, we will always be true to our towns. Isn't it great!

I agree 100%. It's fun reading all of the posts. Not having played in the rivalry since the separation of classes, it's nice to take a look from the outside looking in. You can see the passion coming out and at the same time you can see the anger and respect each community has for each other. The rivalry will never end but if it does, I feel sorry for the teams that have to play Rosoad or Wareau in the state tourney.

As an un-biased fan of this rivalry and high school hockey in general, I thought this game was probably the most exciting I have seen all season. What would have made it better, was if the overtime period hadn't gone as it did (I'm not placing any blame necessarily). My opinion about the refs' calls doesn't matter.

The one thing that I found unfortunate, was that there were several penalties called late in the game, when the refs had let the kids play the whole game w/o very many calls, and it was a good old-fashioned physical hockey game.

That being said, as much as it was frustrating to watch the game end on a 5-on-3 power play in overtime (which I've never seen happen), I personally thought the hooking penalty called on Leverington was a blatant hook that completely took Nelson (the puck-handler) out of the play from behind the net. The cross-check on Omdahl to make it a 5-on-3 was after the whistle, and maybe could have been ignored, but Shane knows better than that. Again, (unfortunately) probably a good call.

The one penalty I thought was a really bad call was the one on Gjovik at the end of the 3rd that led to Stoskopf's 2nd goal (Warroad's 4th). He simply collided w/ a Warrior's defenseman who was on the same path, and it was only called because the Warroad player fell down.

There, I've said my piece. Great convo guys! Glad to have finally seen the rivalry live :D

I think the Roseau faithful ought to be a little careful predicting future success...

I don't think this current class of Rams lost many games to Warroad growing up either. You have to go a long way back to find a Warroad Bantam A win vs. Roseau.

Warroad finds ways NOT to lose...they let the Rams outskate them most of the night waiting patiently for a Rams turnovers, which they then capitalize on. Kind of the same old story over the years.

There high school teams get better because they recruit. The school doesn't have any money but Marvins sure does

Empire, you just said in a different thread that success is like honey, attracts more and more.

That said, the main reason why the Warroad's high school team has success and the lower levels don't is because Hasbargan and Fermoyle have a very good system they use for the varsity program. They find kids to fit various roles and don't deviate much from this strategy. They play very defensively and almost try to shell the goalie. It's amazing what good coaching can do.

I would agree with you that systems and philosophies do make a difference. To a point of course.

I just have to laugh at any accusation of recruiting. Seems most are guilty until proven innocent. At least around here.
