Every garbage goal scorer is "Johnny on the spot". Every year this is the only time I hear someone use that expression.

Just built in the WBL DNA, Sager's a saint now so go after another coach. Who's next Walz, Bolin, Welch??? When is White Bear Lake going to officially change thier name to White Bear Sandbox??
You should ask someone from WBL. I have no idea.

It's absolutely astounding how many names they butcher. Do your friggin' homework! How hard is it to pronounce Micah? The PA announcer says Micah Ranum and Housley calls him Meeka Rainum 5 seconds later. Come on man! Just because you were good at hockey a billion years ago doesn't mean you're any good at color commentary.

On a side note...how do you pronounce Lourdes? Half of them are saying Lourde and half are saying Lourdes. Is the s silent or something?

I've got the games recorded on a DVR and caught this one while watching the Hibbing-Lourdes game.

At the beginning of the 3rd period Housley says "Decenzo went hard into the end boards right there and is looking a little gingerly right now."

Huh? He's looking like Ginger from Gilligan's Island?

He calls the goalie's blocker a "stick glove." I bet that wore on Cates and Defiel this year.

Housley doesn't have a college education but I think he does OK still.

With that said, I think hockey coaches should be teachers at their schools. At least they would have proven that they know how to treat young people with respect and communicate with them properly.

A HS hockey coach should have a college degree IMO.

I caught that one too. Earlier he said a player had eyes behind his head.

may be nitpicking, but i'm annoyed by the fact that he calls the goalie's blocker the "stick glove." i know he knows it's called a blocker because on wednesday he went so far as to say the shot was intended for the "stick glove on the goalie's blocker side."

It's Zac not Jordan, about five years late there Phil. Funny thing is the other guy does not correct him.

Well, actually.. back in the day it may have been more commonly referred to as the "stick glove." A lot of old folks used to also call it a "waffle." It wasn't always called a "blocker."
