So you are saying there is some kind of unwritten rule then? The tourney organizers recognize the proximity of the teams and then don't put them in pool play together? I always thought that when going to any tournament, canadian or otherwise you want to play the best competition, seems like where you are from shouldn't matter, but I guess it does. Thanks.buttend wrote:I will assume you are talking about the Machine and Blades. I highly doubt these 2 MN teams really want to spend $1900, travel 6 hours, reserve a hotel for 4 days to play each other in pool play. These teams , egos aside, could play each other once a week all Spring and Fall and really improve each others competitive play. When going to the "Subway" you want to play the Vancouver teams, Calgary teams, Saskatoon teams, Manitoba teams..etc not your local MN teams.HockeyDad41 wrote:I was just looking at the 2000 Super Elite Division for the NAC and noticed that these two teams will not play each other in pool play. Is there some sort of unwritten rule that the only way these teams will meet is in post pool play?

There are no rules, written or otherwise for summer hockey.HockeyDad41 wrote:So you are saying there is some kind of unwritten rule then? B.E. is right. If you look at the brackets I don't think you will see the Canadians knocking out their best teams either...Think about. Makes for a much better tournament.

Well here we are.
It's been a long road to get to this match up.
Will the well oiled freight train "MACHINE" be as fine tuned for tomorrow's match up, hitting on all cylinders.
Or will the "BLADES" come to the match up slicing, and dicing the compitition.
Tune in tomorrow at Minnesota Made @ 4:45 pm. One thing is for sure, this will be the game of the year for the 2000 Elite level.
Good luck to all the kids!

One side note! This will be the Blades second game of the day and the Machine's first.Shortsidegoal wrote:Well here we are.

I think the 1998 level will be the most entertaining to watch.MnMade-4-Life wrote:http://assets.ngin.com/attachments/docu ... sAug8b.pdfstonehands wrote:Game on August 25th in Caribou Cup

I will volunteer to be a totally neutral observer. So neutral, in fact, that I have no idea who these kids are nor who their coaches are, and I recognize very few former NHLers in street clothes (though their trophy wives often give them away). I have been to MN Made once, and it was after a couple of margaritas.
Looking forward to a fun game to watch, good luck to both sides in all of their games.

I believe the player being talked about has played for the blades in all tournaments but the 1st and practices with the team as well. Not sure why he officially ended things with the icemen but give the kid a break he's 10 or 11. I'm not suggesting that leaving a team in season is good, but each situation has it's own reasoning and with out knowing the whole story I am hesitant to judge.HockeyDad41 wrote:Is that where the kid skates in one tournament with them and after he makes the NHL they list him on their website as one of their own?2112 wrote:Its called the Blades developement model!
Goodluck to both teams tonight. Hopefully the kids will have fun and appreciate the extra attention. Sounds like it's gonna be packed.
So solid they got pounded by the Blades?Edgeless wrote:Well I'm sure his 10-11 year old ex teammates would love to give him a break as the Icemen got pounded 9-2 against a solid MN Edge team in their first Caribou game.
Any team taking on a player to play who has "quit" another team - classless. Wrong lesson being taught here IMO by family and org. At least let the smoke clear whatever the issue was for the sake of the other kids. What other sports allow something like this? What kind of monster is AAA invite hockey?
I heard he played both all year and had to pick for this tournament. Maybe I'm wrong.snyper12 wrote:So solid they got pounded by the Blades?Edgeless wrote:Well I'm sure his 10-11 year old ex teammates would love to give him a break as the Icemen got pounded 9-2 against a solid MN Edge team in their first Caribou game.

Neutral observer sez: Machine pounded the Blades 3-0. Not even a close match. Blades were in desperation mode the whole game, out shot probably 30 - 10, never had a clean break out, lots of dump and chase.
Game got chippy the last period, lots of hitting both ways. I'm sure this crew will tar and feather me for saying it, but it seems to me these kids made a good case for the new USAH rule. At least one player left the game with a serious injury, and there were at least two other incidents requiring the EMT out on the ice. All a part of the game???

Seriously the Blades have zero chance. 2 players against a MACHINE. They had to be very lucky to stay w/in 3 the first time.MrBoDangles wrote:Look for the Blades to keep their crown.Shinbone_News wrote:Neutral observer sez: Machine pounded the Blades 3-0. But the 97 team did not make it to the finals and the 98 played consolation. Enjoy the glory today, but as they get older, other factors come in to play the negate the early advantage they have now. Bunch of castoffs and kids who were not the best as squirts come back as bantams and beat both teams. All those hours at the Made and they can't bring home the wood.
May want to reconsider the excessive hours and exclusion of other activities and wonder if it is all worth it.
Balance and moderation in the end wins.

I'm hearing the 97 team lost 5 players for this event because those players started school this weekend at Shattuck. Sorry, I'm not buying your post at the 97 level.Toomuchtoosoon wrote:But the 97 team did not make it to the finals and the 98 played consolation.
