White Bear Lake vs. Hill-Murray at Aldrich 12-22-11
WBL 4-3-1 vs HM 3-3. Both teams have started out struggling with lots of turnover from last year's squads. They remain the favorites to win the SEC & CSC conferences. I still expect they will play each other again on March 2nd at the Coliseum in the 4AA final to go to State. HM has had a nice win over St. Thomas Academy (2-1) and had close losses to BSM (3-2), Burnsville (ended 5-2 but was 2-2 with 4 minutes left) & Wayzata (OT game). WBL went up north and lost to DE (6-3) & Cloquet (4-2) and got pasted last night by Lakeville South (7-1) at home. I like the Pioneers Guentzel, LaValle and team speed vs WBL's tough D and experienced goalie. HM will restart the streak and make it 15-1 since 2005.
Last nights loss was entirely what I expected and Thursdays game unfortunately should be also. This is a undisciplined team. Physical play is non existent unless it's retaliation or cheap shots, the passing and catching passes compares to squirt level, there are only a handful of boys that even look like they want to be there, the defense want to be forwards and they are relying on one line to carry them. Sorry but one line is not going to work this year!!!!!

I know Hill is having sort of a down year, but after watching White Bear against LS I would have to give the Pioneers the edge in this one. If the Bears play well it might be a close one. Maybe it's not fair to base WB's play off one game, I'm not sure.
As usual it should be a packed house for this historic rivalry. Really love it's at Aldrich this year....they should just always play it there regardless of who is home. Much better venue with much more tradition.
Pioneers - 4
Bears - 2

For WBL the real factor is, how many players did HM take from WBL this year? Pretty sure that when HM recruits WBL system, the players that are asked are not 3rd or 4th line guys nor are they the 5th or 6th defenseman from WBL. That being factored into the equation, HM should beat WBL 50 out of 50 times.stpaul wrote:WBL 4-3-1 vs HM 3-3. Both teams have started out struggling with lots of turnover from last year's squads. Just messing around and looking for a rise out of some on here.... No malice intended.... Was at the game tonight, full house and the White Bear Fans didnt dissapoint as usual. WBL had several golden opportunities to score and make this a closer game. Come sections I think if they meet again the Bears will make it a closer more competitive game. They are a scrappy team, as usual, and move the puck around really well in the opponents zone.

WBL - HM
Lots of fun tonight at Aldrich over on the HM side. Not much tension though. It never felt like WBL was in it. Maybe the naysayers about Sager are right. The Bears are an undisciplined mess. Schletty didn't get much help. The 5 guys on the ice in front of him needed to play tight defense but were all over the place. Dugas was very solid for HM. WBL had 26 shots but very few really good scoring chances or rebounds. One of their goals was on a 5 on 3. WBL may win the SEC but would be no better than 5th in the CSC. HM, STA, Mahtomedi and No. St. Paul are all better than WBL right now.
