SSM plays with class. They know that these games mean nothing to them. More like a full contact scrimmage.
AHA has played them every year since 04 with Sid the Skid....AHA has beat them once and lost in OT once, other than that the game is usually physical and fun to watch.

If the game is at STA, I believe they play MSHSL rules so 17 minutes periods. Could be wrong.....
AHA plays at SSM on Saturday afternoon.........I am going to see Willie Raskob, his brother played at AHA.

Nice work by STA to grab an early lead. We'll see what happens, but as long as the rich kids from the really creepy school win, then we're all winners. :D

Really soft goal by SSM, didn't appear from the video to have gone in. Play this period really slowed down speed wise.

Not sure if it has anything to do with the MSHSL infraction changes, but SSM is a perfect example of how to play a very physical, finesse game without getting penalties.

Great game, should be a good 3rd period.

I doi recall BSM beating Shattuck couple years agi. Every time they have played the games have been close, just like it will be again this year.

Gotta hand it to STA, they more than held their own against an all-star team playing in their 39th game.

Great job by STA! Give the top 10 teams in the state as much time as Shattuck does playing together since Sept and the games would be 50/50 split.

Just got back from the game and while Shattuck is obviously a good team, I wasn't overly impressed with them. The were dominated for most of the second period, which I wasn't expecting. I thought STA played well and had good play in goal. One of Shattuck's goals was extremely soft and another one was on a really bad turnover. STA had plenty of chances to take the lead in the second period but couldn't finish and then struggled a little in the third. For a team that has players from all over North America and one from Latvia as well as being the #1 prep team in the country, I would have expected a little of "they've been there before" attitude after scoring goals, but I guess that was too much to expect. Stay classy, Shattuck. Overall, it was a good game though.

I know exactly what you mean. Last year, when Shattuck played BSM, one of their players did the swimming celly in the neutral zone after a goal and then skated over to BSM's student section and started taunting them. Maybe they're just not used to playing in front of a crowd bigger than 50 people, but I would've expected them to act like it wasn't a big deal to beat a high school team.

Maybe the high # of kids playing summer hockey is leveling the playing field. I think it's cool having SSM in Mn. I also would love to see our [MN] top teams beat them .
