Chase Perry
I am not with Andover but have seen him play twice as 10th grader.
Very impressed and so composed at young age. I saw he played a ton as 9th grader.
Thoughts ?
Future?

Chase is the “real deal”, he IS “Andover”. Without him they are at best .500. If they give MVP for NWSC he win’s in a landslide. I have watched him 4-5 x this year and every game he makes several game changing stops due to their average defensive corp. I don’t know how far they will go, but he and only he gives this team a chance to compete with everyone of the top programs. As far at speculation…next year NTDP, then UofM, UND, or Notre Dame, then NHL…..
If he stays in HS, will he be Mr Hockey? Could he be a #1 draft choice?fiveholenyou wrote:Chase is the “real deal”, he IS “Andover”. Without him they are at best .500. I too have watched him play a handful of games this year. He is the BEST goaltender in the NWSC. He is very even keeled in high intense games, very confident does not lose composure at all. Let in 2 goals on 60 shots vs. Maple Grove very impressive. Agree, Andover is a average team without Perry. If, Perry has offers to leave next year Andover will feel the painfiveholenyou wrote:Chase is the “real deal”, he IS “Andover”. Without him they are at best .500. Not CROWNING Perry at all just giving him recognition from the games I have watched. As for the shots he has faced MAJORITY of the shots did NOT come from the perimeter. If, you have watched Maple Grove, Centennial, Elk River, Duluth East (and so on) play you would agree. Again, without Perry Andover wouldn't be in the games that they have been in even with the 7 forwards returning. No doubt Andover will be returning a good squad next year. If, Perry returns they will be a top contender in the ConferenceJohn McClain wrote:Yes while Mr. Perry is facing alot of shots, the majority are coming from the perimeter. Let's not crown the kid yet. As for the impact on the program if he leaves, there is enough talent and depth on the offensive side with 7 of the top 9 forwards back next year.
Fine. I'll crown him. No problem eating crow in a couple years if I'm wrong. Watched this kid for a couple years now... one of the best I've seen and he's only a Soph.
Agreed that "most" of his shots have NOT been from the perimeter. Anything from the perimeter he either holds onto or deflects to the corners. Control and lateral movement is better than most I've seen.
I'd take him in a heartbeat!
Huskies should feel fortunate to have him.
Has a bright future.

I am not impressed... To me he is another big goalie... Alot of pucks hit him because of his size... I have not been impressed with his performances I have seen... Good teams know how to wait him out and put good shots on goal... I would expect for him to stay pretty much idle from where he is and has been which is pretty much average with a good game here and there... He most certainly is not the best goalie in the conference... Everyone was on his band wagon going into select 15s last year and against good players he struggled... The team in front of Perry is very underrated.

Pretty critical of a kid that has pretty much kept his team in almost every game. I believe Maple Grove put up 60 plus shots and they could only score 2. Wouldnt they be the 2nd best team they have played? I thought you said good teams wait him out and know what to do. Looks like Maple Grove had problems.
It looks like he outplayed Anders Frank the two times they have played each other. According to stats I would consider Chase #1 or #2 for goalies in the NWSC.
How far did he make it in advanced 15's??

Chase made it all the way to New York for 15's. In my opinion was one of the top goalies out there, was in the group of select few I think USA dropped the ball on bringing to Austria.
Only weakness he has is gives up lots of rebounds at times. This can lead to him being really good or struggle through a game ex. Blaine.
Overall a very strong goalie with a great future ahead.

I have not seen this kid play, but would say that most highly skilled goaltenders take shots to the chest that look like easy saves because of good positioning on their part. Conversely, goalies who are not as gifted have more opportunity for the spectacular save because they are out of position.

I agree... a lot of pucks hit him because of his size? Sounds like a great goaltender if that is happening. Can't develop size so he has that going for him. I've seen him a couple of times and I really like what I see. Goal tenders go through hot times and cold times during season and he really hasn't been cold yet. Best of success to him, its a long road for goal tenders to get to higher places...a little luck and a lot of hard work, we will see. GB

I hope this part of your post is a joke? Based on your previous Andover-heavy posts you're either him, a parent, a coach, or the president of his fan club. If you're trying to pump this kid up and create buzz, you may want to start a little slower... NHL=lol.
The few games I've seen him play this season, and maybe I caught him on bad nights (Blaine & 1st Maple Grove game), were not all that impressive to me. He gives up big rebounds and flops around a lot. He ended up on his butt waving his hands over his head more than once, and in my opinion cost them the W in both those games.

whoa whoa whoa... Im not ripping him... I am just saying when he has to move he is vulnerable... He has by FAR the most upside to anyone in NWSC... I just think he needs someone to push him past being a good high school goalie and bring him to the ability level of a premier junior player... I would compare him to Mac Carruth from a few years back... Im pretty sure he turned out alright... The kid has a huge future lets just leave it at that

This is false.
Like the other poster I'm not ripping the kid, just thought the post was a little over the top. And as I stated in my post, I'm basing my opinion on two games - so take it how you will.

the 1 maple grove game he had over 45 shots, I think, not positive though. He was flopping around all the time because the shots he faces are good scoring chances because Andover has no defensemen to help him out.sk8er wrote:I hope this part of your post is a joke? I was at that game and clearly remember Andover out shooting Maple Grove 37-34. I have no idea why the stats on Hockey Hub now have Maple Grove out shooting Andover 44-22, interesting...

Coaches have access to changing stats.....this one is no different. Especially SOG and Phantom Assist.....watch a video of their games and judge for yourself.....ie) 12 had an assist not 22 in their last game.

You "clearly" remember minor stats like shots on goal from a game 2 1/2 months ago? "Interesting" is the word that comes to mind.sk8er wrote:I was at that game and clearly remember Andover out shooting Maple Grove 37-34.
