I understand that that talent may not translate into HS success, but the potential is there. It will be interesting to see where FF and LF are in 2 to 3 years as LF Bantams and PWs are on the bottom of the standings. I guess only time will tell.
The current HS kids at LF made it to the state tourney as PWAs. That translated into HS success for them. FF made it to the section finals so you can't say they weren't successful really. It's no small feet to make it to the finals.
The FF sophs and juniors were the top class a team in dist 15, second in VFW (number two and 4 seeds). They advanced to mn hockey regionals, took third in vfw dist 9, and were the third ranked class a team in the bantam A state poll(top 20).
The kids on the FF peewee A's this year are a special group, hopefully they keep it going. Last year's peewee A's went to regions as well. Ironic that the guy who coached the sophs and juniors in bantam a's also coached the peewee a's the last two years.
The FF bantam A's this year did very well considering that they played with 4 guys on the bench most of the time. A couple very talented kids on that team as well.
My comment asking what changed is loaded, I already know what is wrong.
Section finals is an accomplishment these days, yes. A disclaimer is that I have been dissapointed in FF all year, not just section tourney. It would've been slightly better had they actually competed in the final.
Possibly after having a year of varsity experience they will fare better, but I have to tip my hat to what the head of the LF hs team has done. I believe more than anything that he out coaches his opponents.
