Give it up Lou

This is just high school hockey, so it's not like it's all that important if an announcer isn't perfectly neutral. And lou is such a fixture, for good or bad, that he's not going anywhere, and I do think he tries to put his inescapable bias aside . . . but he doesn't always succeed. I don't need to hear him talk about why his grandsons can't wear his number (actually, blame Matvick for bringing that up). Or when somebody mention that Kloos is going to the U, to hear Lou unilaterally bring up the fact that Louie is as well. Everybody knows he's got some of his grandkids playing. A good rule to follow for him would be to mention his grandkids only when their play warrants it.

Lou Nanne is one of the most knowledgable hockey guys around. Absolutely love listening to him, he gives fantastic insight. As far as his bias towards Edina I can forgive it and understand it given that his two grandsons play for the Hornets. It's hard to blame any parent or grandparent for being a little less than objective when it comes to their kid/grandkid. With that being said, I think he plays it more to the middle than most of the people on here give him credit for...

Yes but those grandparents aren't announcing their grandkids game for the whole state of Minnesota. Sad I can't watch the game. Glad I don't have to listen to Lou.Murray Chadwick wrote:Lou Nanne is one of the most knowledgable hockey guys around. Absolutely love listening to him, he gives fantastic insight. Okay, here's where it is a problem that Lou's announcing: he doesn't really stress that his grandson made a remarkably dangerous hit. I'm not sure I'd be able to say that about my grandson either, but somebody on the air needs to point it out, especially considering what's gone on this year and who they're playing against.

I actually thought the heading of this thread was "Give it up for Lou." I absolutely love listening to his stories and his insight into hockey. He's an absolute homer and the it's obvious his grandsons can do no wrong. Case in point Louie Nanne easily could've got a 5 minute boarding penalty but Lou kept quiet on that one... But he's given a lot to this state when it comes to hockey and he's as good of a high school hockey color guy as I can remember.
No one is crying that you're not listening. I am a Tonka fan and have never found Lou to be any less impartial than anyone else doing games. People need to get over their Edina hate. Cripes, I can't even say I want them to lose this game.bronco2828 wrote:Yes but those grandparents aren't announcing their grandkids game for the whole state of Minnesota. Sad I can't watch the game. BSM beats Edina.bronco2828 wrote:Sorry folks. Watched both games today and was pretty happy with Lou Nanne's commentating up until the point when he said Edina should have been 3 seed instead of 4 seed. You know he wouldn't be half bad if he could get over being so biased towards Edina. I work nights tonight and am glad I don't have to listen to his praises about The Hornets during the whole late game. Then I'll be down to watch tomorrow and won't have to hear him the rest of the Tourney. Get over it Lou the Cake Eaters aren't the only team at the "X".
I guess Lou now can say Shoulda, woulda, coulda been # 3 seed. Lou is good for hockey. He does a good job.
Did Edina even play a second line tonight? It seems Hurley - Nanne - Walker played the entire game. Edina will be back. Young team. Mix in all the recruits in Bantams and Peewee's and they have depth coming up for many years to come.
Where is Hurley from?

Sweet Lou From the Soo did a great job today. You wouldn't know by listening that he has two Grandsons playing for Edina. The only thing I regret is that he didn't punch the biased Play by Play guy (Matvick) in the mouth for his bias announcing. What a difference when Benilde scored from when Edina scored. KSTC needs to dump Matvick right now.

Couldn't have said it better. Love the unilateral comment about Louie. He sure looked like an elite player tonight.xy wrote:This is just high school hockey, so it's not like it's all that important if an announcer isn't perfectly neutral. Maybe he's biased, but he makes a good point. He does a good enough job. Maybe I'm biased too though...bronco2828 wrote:Sorry folks.
