Well, it certainly wasn't a cake walk, but it was a very satisfying 7-3 win for the Wildcats. Incrementally raised their season goals/game average to 5.70, and swept the Blaze in conference play for the first time in Coach Taylor's ten year career at Eagan.
Burnsville's chin straps were tight, but the space on their bench was tighter. Seemed like Sheely's line never came off the ice. It's telling that Boeser is still third on the Blaze's points leader board, even though he's missed the last 3 weeks with an injury. Their coach really leaned on his top line, and with Eagan's physical play they were worn down and gassed by the third.
Contrast that with Eagan, which pretty much rolled three lines all night long. Got the first 5 goals from the second and third lines, and #3 and #4 d-men. They now have 12 skaters with ten or more points. A future opponent's game plan that is focused primarily on locking out Glienke and Willox runs a serious risk of short-sightedness.
I was hoping that Burnsville would be the team to give Edina a run for their money in 2AA. After last night, looks like I'm going to have to pin those hopes on Jefferson instead.
