Is long playing for Hill now or do you need an editor "Long just tore the Festival up and is Staum’s teammate at Hill-Murray. "
My error. I was writing about Long and thinking about Joey Anderson. Thank you for catching that.

Thanks for updates, although I'm confused with the Blue and Light Blue scores, not sure if a blue team exists. Don't think there is a lindquist defensemen, and shocked you didn't list more prior lake players. Just giving you crap thanks for the update.

Curious to know if Jarret Cammarata plays like his brother? Or maybe that's a cousin?

He has thickness like brother, same height, kind of small. He continues to get better each time I see him. Also has a good shot, like brother. He's not his brother yet.

So many talented players at all positions. I'm amazed sometimes these are 14 and 15 year olds. I will not be suprised to see a large number of Minnesota Boy's on the final USA Development Team.

Lots of good defensemen. I thought Rossini, Helickson, Lindgren, Kelly, Staum, Denman, and Vescio have been consistently standing out.

Lets start by saying Lindgren is at a way different level than anyone else. Overall the play was very impressive (Best 15 group I can remember). Players that stood out Rossini, Anderson, A. Moore, Rasmussen, Fellows, Long, Kelly, Edquist.

Our son is up there right now and according to him he is having a blast! Meeting new kids, lots of ice time, staying in the dorm and the whole camp has been a great experience for him. Kudos to MN Hockey for running a great festival. It has been well worth it!

I watched the Royal vs Red and Grey vs White games Tuesday (they're the only games I've seen).

Royal beat Red 7-1 but the over-all play was closer than the score indicated. It was simply a day where Red (in terms of over-all team defense) was not on its game and the Royal line of Montana Streit, Mark Senden and Joey Anderson were TOTALLY on their game, accounting for (at least) 6 of the 7 goals scored by Royal.

Streit did the dirty work in the corners and play-making, Senden played a strong game physically and used his speed in transition well, which allowed Anderson to do what he does best - pounce on opponents mistakes, make excellent hockey plays carrying and moving the puck and BURYING his SHOTS from the slot and in alone on the goalie.

Also thought Royal D Lane Krenzen, Tanner Vescio and Dalton Weigel had strong games, and the other 3 Royal D also played well. Krenzen in particular played a physical game against Long and Wait, which helped limit their chances, Vescio used his reach well and made smart passes and Weigel played a smooth, mistake free type of game.

Red just couldn't get it going offensively or defensely and got a little bit frustrated in the 2nd half. There lone goal was scored by Garrett Wait in transition during the 2nd half (sprung by a nice Austen Long pass) where Wait made a great shot off a one-on one rush threw the neutral zone. Also thought Matt Kiersted looked good on D for the Red team rushing the puck and trying to create scoring chances.

White vs. Grey game ws a tale of two halfs. White led 1-0 very quickly when the Grey team left Bellows alone (with the puck) at the top right circle...Boom. White scored a PP goal midway threw the 1st half. Grey scored to cut it to 2-1, then White scored with like 46 seconds to go in the half and it was 3-1 White at halftime.

Goalie switch at halftime (Rasmussen in for Grey, Meyers in for White). As I re-call, Grey scored a rebound goal off a scramble to cut the lead to 3-2, then less than a minute later scored again to tie it 3-3 (I may have the description of these 2 goals out of order) but in any event, 20 minutes to go in the half and the game is now tied 3-3.

Lindgren then took over and scored or assisted on the next 2 goals for Grey, then led 5-3 late, then White scored kind of flukey goal with 3 minutes left and a tense final minute ended (after Grey iced it twice) with Lindgren taking the final draw against Bellows with 4.5 seconds remaining and somehow flicking it past the White D lined up directly behind Bellows for a 5-4 Grey win.

For the White Bellows played well and so did Patterson, who played on Bellows line. Max Johnson and Brandon Lund played on the other two White lines, respectively, and both had solid games.

Sorenson is a talented player on D for White, but had a rough game, taking 3 penalties, which helped swing the momentum in Greys favor. Hellickson played his usual strong game on D for White.

Thought Grey Forwards Fellows, Tufte, Dow, Ranallo all had strong games and Jennrich pitched in a goal too to get the comeback started. On D for Grey credit needs to be given to VanSant for hanging back patiently and covering the back end...while Lindgren activated his offensive game (like a hybrid) 4th forward...which he is extremely effective in doing! Thought Grey D Staum and Calengor were also an effective pairing.

And finally, credit goes to goalie Rasmussen, he allowed only 1 goal in the 2nd half, while Grey tallied 4 goals.

Curious why they run power plays here and not the festival back in April. Good call in dropping the penalty shots IMO. Should do the same at all levels in the spring going forward.

As for the results so much for the great hockey minds in the Reebok coats being able to evaluate players and create balanced teams. What's with lt blue only scoring 5 goals all week with some of the highly publicized names and red giving up the # of GA. Please don't say some teams lacked chemistry, had tough luck, blame it on the goalies or the classic one that the 7-0 game was closer than the score showed.

I agree on the power play. As far as the Red team, my kid was one of the d-men, and I can say a lot of PIM, a lot of getting 3 fwds too low, and some bad defensive play. I'm not afraid to admit my kid had one particularly dreadful game. And he wasn't alone.

While it would be nice to have power-plays and penalty kills at the Spring Festivals...since both are certainly factors when evaluating players...I'm about 98% sure the reason they use the penalty shot format for settling penaltys...is because they're 12 forwards (4 lines of forwards per team) at the Spring Festival...meaning at even strength forwards only get 5-6 shifts per half during 24 minute stop time halfs. In a game where the refs call alot a penalties, some forwards would only get 3-4 shifts per half, thus, it's a numbers game...why they use the format they do at the Spring Festivals.

In contrast, RBX 15 Summer camp at St. Cloud features 9 forwards per team and RBX 16 & 17 Final 54 features 10 forwards per team.

Just to clarify......Minnesota does not send a "team" to National Camp. Each District in the country sends a specified number of individual players, that are then mixed among the other players in the country to form teams for the camp.
