Seems about right. Mounds View could make a case for 6th if they beat Stillwater, but their loss to North St. Paul pretty much sealed the top-6 seeds. And Irondale won't be given anything above an 8th seed.

Ok, except
5. MV
6. Tartan
7. NSP
MV has wins over Stillwater, WBL, and Tartan.

Speaking of NSP, Jerry Diebel is retiring. Is there a good coach in waiting out there? I think NSP has had some talented players over the past several years and others from the Association that went elsewhere. This is a large enough program that should be more competetive at the high school level. The frustration of the Oliver twins was quite evident on the ice Saturday vs. HM. The have gone backwards since they met HM in December.

Mounds View is sure a mystery. They beat WBL, East Ridge & Tartan and tie CDH, yet get blown out by NSP and Hastings.

No way mounds view drops to 7. They have wins over wbl, stillwater and tartan. They'll end up with the 5 seed.

I guess you could flip/flop Tartan and MV based on win/loss record. But Tartan has no quality wins, and MV does, Plus MV won the head to head matchup.

There is an argument for both, but Moundsview has been so inconsistent. Its tough for me to reward them for 2 quality wins out of their 8, and a tie with Cretin, when the could possibly have a 15 loss season. Idk, they beat Tartan 3 -2. If thats enough...

This is the same pattern the section has shown for the last few years. There are several decent, but inconsistent, teams in this section. It's difficult to gauge head to head because week to week it seems like a team will get hot, only to suffer a head scratching loss.

Hill's depth this year, as well as their penchant for penalties make them vulnerable. WBL is clicking right now, defensively and offensively. It's not just the Wahlin show the last few weeks.

I expect it to be yet another Bears/Pioneers section final, with WB having as good a chance as any section 'underdog' to get to State.

So how do they determine seeds?

Well, the section coaches will go in on the 17th, and hash it out, plead their case or whatever, and come up with the seedings. Four Suburban East coaches, three Classic Suburban coaches, and Irondale.

You say its tough for you to reward MV for their two quality wins (also a tie to Stillwater and a tie to CDH possible #1 in 3AA) so why would you reward Tartan for no quality wins and a head to head loss to MV? Even though Tartan has a better record their strength of schedule is much lower than MV. According to this site MV is at 34 and Tartan is at 61 for strength of schedule.

Remember last season Stillwater got the 4 and they only had 9 wins. There must be a formula they use to figure it all out

If the seedings are not:

1. Hill-Murray
2. White Bear Lake
3. Stillwater
4. Roseville
5. Mounds View
6. Tartan
7. North St. Paul
8. Irondale

then the coaches certainly enjoyed that Monday happy hour!

I personally don't care how they are seeded, as you have to win to advance, but strenghth of schedule doesn't mean rip if you don't win games. You're right MV has had a tougher schedule, but I'm pretty sure Tartan could have played that same schedule, and mustered 8 wins out it.

In the past, they have always met on Sunday, I think the meeting is on the 16th.

Wbl looks to be hitting their stride at the right time... they'll be a tough out for hill this year. Anyone saying tartan should be seeded ahead of mv has a screw loose. No argument can be made to support that, tartan has no quality wins in the section and they lost to mv. MV has wins over stillwater, wbl and tartan in section play, tartan has nothing close to that to put on their resume. No matter, this will come down to wbl or hill.
