Is the accent on the no? Peru-NO-vich? Good handle for D.
It's pronounced puh-ROO-no-vich. Kid is just outstanding. After the game with Hermantown, Plante called him the best player on the ice, and he was right. It's pretty amazing the numbers he's put up as a sophomore defenseman (11-42-53), and before anyone says he just gets fat against the weaker teams Hibbing faces, I'll point out that he has a higher scoring average against the best teams on Hibbing's schedule (Hill-Murray, Hermantown, Mahtomedi, Duluth Marshall, and Grand Rapids) than he does against the rest of the schedule.
He has already been drafted by the USHL (Cedar Rapids I think) and made it to the US tryouts in New York last year. He' s great talent, but the best part is that he is just one of several highly talented sophomores and freshman for the Bluejackets, who will return 85% of their scoring for next season. Exciting times to be a Hibbing fan.

Worst atmosphere I have ever been a part of for semifinal games. The arena wasn't much more then 1/2 full for the East/Rapids game and the ER/Andover game would have only half filled Hodgins-Berardo Arena. Hopefully, East, Rapids and Cloquet make it to the semis, then I think the atmosphere would be much better. Attendance at the A semis will be interesting. More then likely 3 Duluth area teams and Hibbing. Hibbing will travel well, so I expect a fun night.
If you remember, the road conditions were horrible that weekend. I was at 50 mph on I35 that morning from St. Paul. I think parts of I35 were shut down the day before. I hope the 7A fans show up early for the 7AA games too and make a day of it. As for your first sentence, thank you captain obvious.
Just had to needle you about Rapids, DJ. I have a love/hate relationship with the Thunderhawks, in that it's in my DNA to hate GR, yet I like how they've continued to be competitive in AA.
I've got a good feeling the crowds will be tremendous, as it will be a mini state tourney type of day. (As someone else mentioned.) It doesn't start too early, there's plenty of time to walk to Canal Park and eat dinner at your choice of good places, and it ends early enough so that even citiots could make it home about midnight. (Or just grab one of the many hotel rooms.)
I couldn't be more excited to attend this event and am hoping we get four nail-biters with an upset or two in the mix. If they make this thing a yearly event, then I imagine it will only grow in popularity as more people experience it and plan ahead to be a part of it.

I'd imagine Rapids and Hibbing fans will cheer for each other. I don't imagine there will be too many fans of other teams cheering for East or Elk River.
Don't see any close games in QFs. The one that is interesteting is Hermantown/Virginia. Could see this going into running time but Virginia could keep it close too. They are the best coached team on the Range and though they don't have the horses, they play smart.

Hermantown by 5
At least by 5, maybe more. Hermantown won't get beat again until they are in the Championship game.
