[quote="Cobber"] STMA over Roseau sounded like a close game but STMA got the bounces when needed. . #3 STMA struggled with the #7 seed last night

You obviously weren't at the game or following it... The game was never really in question like you try to perceive it. STMA was up 4-1 (Roseau lone goal on a penalty shot, which was the correct call). Roseau pulled their goalie and scored with 1:30 left in game. STMA then got an EN.. Shots were 33-21 STMA.

Bemidji will host St. Michael-Albertville at 3pm at Bemidji Community Arena on Saturday, 2/20/16 for the Sec 8AA Semi-Final

No I was not at the game but I did get to listen to the last 2 minutes and the post game on Bob FM 106.1. They said while STMA did deserve to win the game Roseau had the better chances in the second period when the score was 2 to 1 but could not get the bounces when they needed or maybe they were not at the game either so they just made it up.

StMA has a good physical team.
The first period was back and forth fairly even an edge to Bemidji.
After that the speed and physical play slowed StMA down and Bemidji came out on top. I am sure StMA coaches have a plan to try and equalize the depth difference.

It should be an excellent hockey game.

It was not a northern conspiracy to put St Mikes at fourth, but a Moorhead conspiracy.

It wasn't a comment about "dumb conspiracy theory" just needling you for your snide/sarcastic remark and perhpas your northern bias :D. Its all good. Bemidji and Moorhead are very good, fun to watch. STMA should have been a 3.
I know, I know. There aren't many things that set me off on here anymore, but people posing as objective journalists who impute motives without any evidence are one of them. No doubt STMA deserved the 3-seed, though seeding is overrated (as some of the STMA fans clearly understand). Winning solves everything.

And I'm a city kid now, no more northern bias here.
You grew up in Duluth went to a big city college and live in the Twin Cities.

When were you a small town northern boy?

It worked, much tougher game on paper for the Jacks. Rogers hung around for a while with your club also but Bemidji blew them out in the third. Should be more of the same vs STMA.

Well I hope so, but I will not lose sleep (not till Friday night).

It will be a good game.

Most of the fans from St Mikes were good people.
Some of the dads thought there should have been more penalties called in the first game (but they were wrong).
But the StMA boys will be ready and excited. Bemidji boys will be, too. It should be as good a semifinal game you will find. 2AA, 6A should be good also.

Hey, I did have some rookie forum user once ask me which St. Paul suburb I was from. And I could be karl(east) ridge or karl(east)view, couldn't I?

Or, for that matter, karl mankato(east) or karl(east) grand forks.

And elliott, I spent a night in Ely once. Does that count? I also think I wore a flannel shirt once when I was in 3rd grade.

Well, I know the principal at Duluth East and she is no northern, small town girl. Although she did spend a summer in one and I did see her in a flannel shirt.
I cut her some slack so I guess I can give you a bit more rope.
Just remember this, as of this writing Bemidji is the second best team in AA.

You are right Cobber. Roseau did have the better of the chances in the second period. For some reason, the second period has been STMA's Achilles heal all season. I felt like the game was never really in doubt but Roseau did hang in just fine. They played 2 lines a lot of the night and their top players were gassed by the third period. I thought the officiating was fine but of course all calls and questionable non-calls are subject to whatever color glasses you watch the game through (right Elliott :D )

Bemidji is going to be very difficult to beat Saturday. That is a very strong team top to bottom. I am hoping that STMA will at the very least give the Jacks a run for their money.

Tough to beat the refs when the deep pocketed metro section 8 teams come to town.

Some people (all teams have them) have blinders on when it comes to penalties and their team.. always thinking their team isn't getting the call

I for one hope there is less penalties called ( I believe there was around 13 last game). Let them play hockey and get a little physical. Hopefully the players and not the refs decide the game on ticky tack calls.

Agreed. But it is also up to the players. The refs need to control the game. So, if there is a bunch of stuff going on away from the play, after the whistle, or looking to instigate, then players are likely to do some time in the box.

Should be a great championship game. Will the game sellout or will you be able to buy tickets at the door. Clearly the top 2 teams 8AA will have a good northern representative either way.

There will be plenty of room and tickets will be available at the door.
