Was this the bomb?
The bomb of 1 9th grader making the team? What happened to the rest, all on JV?
No the bomb is life long North kids being cut from the JV to fulfill the promises of the recruits. But to avoid this a little we will keep a bunch of extra kids so they don't get cut, but instead get a jersey but have to wear it in the crowd when 5 guys sit each night.
How about just live the with the kids that pay the bills all summer and not promise kids things or recruit new kids. I am guessing if 8 new kids did not get recruited they would not have to sit 5 kids a night.

Go play Jr Gold with all of your life long North kids. JV is a grooming process for Varsity Roster, fact is these "recruits" are better than the life long North players. Coach wants to win!

Is there room on the Jr Gold team? Or do they already have 25 kids on the bench!

Should be wide open if all are in stands waiting to play 20 games

JV is a grooming process for the Varsity Roster? Please inform the rest of us what you've been smoking. JV is a wasteland. I'll await your comments when your kid gets cut so some hot shot recruit can play JV.

My kid will not be getting cut, so what is your point? Did you want a trophy as well for playing JV?
The fact is there are 20 open roster spots on the Varsity or JV team every year. there no guarantee you will have a spot on the team the next game or the next year. If someone comes into a program and takes your "spot" don't cry and complain that you are entitled to a spot on the team just because you played with association or that team in the years prior...they are better than you and they deserve it more than you.
The coach wants to win, big deal. the coach recruits... again who cares? almost everyone does it, but only when it affects you have a problem
basically you are encouraging the "Every kid gets a trophy" epidemic by complaining about this..... little billy got cut, or has to sit in the stands while better players get to play, who cares?? In the real world you are never guaranteed a job or that maybe someone else who is better than you at your job will take it from you.
chalk it up as a life lesson learned, wipe the dirt off yourself get up and become a better person

I am not at all about everyone gets a ribbon. A matter of fact I can't be anymore the opposite. The notion everyone recruites is BS and not true. Again this is high school and yes everyone wants to win, but win by the rules. TE wants to win sure but does not want to work for it. He wants everyone to help him make his house payment by attending all his camps and then take the easy way out and recruit kids to win. All other high school coaches want to win, but they will work to develop the players that are there. See TE wants to be paid like he is a great coach but can't develop kids like he wants people to believe do for him to win he lies and makes promises to recruites.
Love to see him WIN if that's what he is about by developing players not recruiting them. I get it if TE was a junior or college coach but he is not. Well I guess he was a junior coach at one time. Google that see how it went. Maybe he has forgotten he is back in High School.

My point is you are exactly the problem. Comments like "Coach wants to win," and "these recruits are better than the life long North players" tell me exactly where you and the coach are coming from. You're probably his chief recruiter. I'm not asking for any trophies, and I'd like to WHAT your point is.
I'm sure if the coach doesn't win, you're one of those parents that will threaten to transfer elsewhere - for hockey.

Your comment before about JV being a wasteland, why are you so upset about these "recruits" playing in the wasteland versus the life long North players? If JV is worth nothing, what is all the fuss about? It seems there is some beef with the coach, so why would you want to put up with another 2-3 years with him when you can move along and play Jr Gold?
Clearly it is affecting some parents more than others. Just like in life, if you have been some place longer, you should probably get the job over someone else that is new.
I get it, you are not in favor of recruiting players for High School hockey, but Lakeville North is not the only school who does it.
It sounds like Go guy has a personal problem with the coach. You are saying the coach broke the rules? Then why don't you go to the administration, so this won't continue! I have no idea why he kept so many kids, but I would think he talked to them individually, and let them know where they sit, so they could make a decision on whether they wanted to stay and play limited time or go to Jr Gold. It seems if he would have cut the kids you wouldn't have been happy and now he kept the kids and you are not happy. I think it's time to let it go and get on with your life! Many coaches in many different sports run camps, so what he is doing is not unusual. If people are upset with him, don't go to his camp. I don't agree with all the transfers, but if they are following the MSHSL rules, then that's how it is.
It is JV, if you want to dress 25 nobody really cares. I've seen plenty of JV games with more than 20 kids dressed and never seen anyone bat an eye. Varsity is different of course.
These kids pay to play, often $300 or more. That money, in many places, only partly goes to the athletic department with the rest going to the general fund. That is before fundraising nearly every kid has on top of paying to signup..Rosters are expanding in nearly every sport.....basketball dresses 18 or 20 for playoffs now, not because they need 18 players but because they take money from them.

I am good with that and agree money is a factor these days. I agree JV is what it is. That is why I don't agree with recruiting kids in like 9th graders and bouncing the kid who was there all along.
That is my point it is high school hockey everyone wants to win at the end of the day 8 teams will go to St. Paul. So why not just play by the rules and play with and develop your own kids. Unless I guess you cannot develop them like you want everyone to believe you can. But then you might not look as attractive to the next level TE wants to go to. Whatever helps him get there I guess is what will be done.

It happens everywhere in every sport. The difference is, Lakeville parents continue to cry out loud!
Take parents out of the equation.....if you ask all the players they are excited to get a new kid that can help them win games. Isn't it about the kids not the parents ? You helicopters fly away!!!! GB
Watch the TE Bantams parents meeting video. The bold approach he takes on the topic is one thing. Having the balls to video it and put it out there is quite another.
The comments that he has to take this approach because he is unable to develop a program himself are completely spot on. It's not just the other Lakeville North kids that are impacted......it's also kids at other programs that are doing things the right way. What a fraud.
Nobody has mentioned all these "recruits" playing JV and the effect it has on them. We can beat the "community based program" to death but the reality is privates began eroding that years ago and the public side has jumped in with both feet. To give up 65 games of Bantam AA hockey for 20 JV games is about at detrimental to development as it gets. If JV is indeed a wasteland why in the world would a group of kids allegedly from the same program make that choice? I know the practice everyday argument is coming but bantam eligible JV players are essentially the same as taking a peewee A and having him play bantam B. Not sure anyone would advocate that. I have played ,coached and watched youth hockey for 50 years and have yet to see a single player who benefitted or improved his game by skipping bantams to play JV. As a parent I can't even imagine allowing or advocating such a decision.

Develop kids within your own program and win with the kids you've developed. We all know there's going to be some movement. That said........this isn't college sports.

Like Warroad, Hermantown, Tonka? What about the kids you developed and go to other schools? If kids transfer into a program, why is it the coaches fault? Should he cut those kids or pick the ones he believes will give them the best team? Not sure why people think the LN coach recruited kids because some guy who doesn't like him accuses him without any facts. My guess is the school administrators checked this out an found nothing.
It doesn't appear anyone from North is complaining. Looks like a current Asst coach at another program, who has two open enroll goalies on his own roster, venting. This anger could be to losing four 9th graders that either moved or open enrolled into Lakeville schools.

He shouldn't cut them. He just shouldn't recruit them in the first place.
Watch the video. You probably won't wonder much after seeing it. What are the odds four kids from a highly successful to this point youth team that were on track to have a very good Bantam team this season all independently decided to forego Bantams and enroll at another school? I've got a bridge.........
How do you know he recruited them?Watched the video and felt he was very up front. What do you know about the kids and their bantam team? Like I stated, I'm against the way kids move, but if it is within the high school league rules, that is how it is.
At work, if your company hires someone more talented than you and that person is promoted ahead of you, do you complain?
So are these parents who are complaining telling their kids "life ain't fair little Johnny! You was robbed!"
Also, in one breath, complaining that the coach makes money on a summer camp, then complaining coach doesn't develop players? Sick of hearing parents of underachieving players blame the high school coach for their kids not making varsity. Reasons kids don't develop enough to be star players: 1) Physically, do not possess enough natural talent 2) Did not work hard enough 3) Some combination of 1 and 2. I say this all as a parent who has an 11th grade JV player who probably will get cut next year. If he does, he will move onto the next adventure with zero complaints.
These parents would not be complaining if they had a varsity player. They would be applauding the coach for making the team better. This is 3 pages of sour grapes.
