Here are the numbers (since it says winning % a tie is as bad as a loss)
Conference winning percentage: Marshall (4-3-1) 50%
Cloquet-Esko-Carlton (6-2-1) 66.7%
Elk River (12-4) 75%, 76.5% if they beat
Armstrong
Overall Winning ercentage: Marshall (15-7-2) 62.5%, 64% if they beat
Greenway
CEC (17-6-1) 70.83%, 72% if they beat Rapids
Elk River (16-7) 69.56%, if they win the
remaining two games 72%, win one 68%
Section winning percentage: Marshall (3-3) <25% of games played
CEC (4-2-1) 57.1%
Elk River (2-2) <25% of games played
No head to head games between Elk River and Marshall and Elk River and CEC so the next tiebreaker is Conference winning percentage so Elk River would have the edge. If Elk River wins out they and CEC would tie on the Overall winning percecentage. If they lose to Hill-Murray CEC edges them out on Overall winning percentage. Based on this it would be Elk River, Cloquet-Esko-Carlton and then Marshall. If ties are treated differently throw this all out. Also if teams are in different conferences does the Conference winning percentage tiebreaker apply?

It would depend on how the tie figures in. Winning percentage to me would be total wins over the total games played. In that case both have won 18 out of 25, i.e. 72%. With the QRF being the next tiebreaker it just might get down to that. Lot riding on the Hill-Murray/Elk River game. If the Elks lose CEC would definetly win the tiebreakers.

If they tie after the win% then its the higher QRF and if some how they tie that then its a coin flipgreenwayraider wrote:It would depend on how the tie figures in. FROM- MN SCORES
How are ties (soccer, hockey etc) calculated?
The same as above, with no bonus for winning the game (because you didnt). The value of Y is split in half between winning and losing points.
It does look pretty straightforward if CEC, DM, and ER all win out that they will finish:
3 CEC
4 ER
5 DM
I assume that if ER loses to H-M that will stick them with the 5 seed assumig DM beats Greenway. As kniven points out, CEC isn’t guaranteed to beat Holum and GR, so it really is still up in the air. All that appears to be settled is 1-2 and 6-9.

I don't really care where they play this season. Fact is there is no way anyone can logically explain how St. Francis with their results should be higher in the seeds. The reason I don't like it is because it makes me concerned for future seasons when Rapids has a contender and could be impacted. Initially I thought the QRF wasn't a bad idea. It's just that when you compare GR's results with St. Francis results and their strength of schedule I am dumbfounded as to how St. Francis can get a better score. On another note, I don't get what your deal is with Immigrant fan.northwoods oldtimer wrote:Take the (8 vs. 9) play-in this season DJ as ImmigrantADfan needs every dime of gate fee in 2018.TheHockeyDJ wrote:Looking at schedules and results it seems St. Francis shouldn’t be ahead of Rapids. That’s computer flaw for you.

But to be honest, it wouldn't surprise me if Rapids wins. A Smalley coached team tends to get upset at times throughout the year; big win over East and then take a loss. (Superior for example)

You called it Upfan. Takes much of the drama out of who the 3 seed will be. As much as I have always liked Cloquet I’m going to have to root for East at sectionals. Cloquet does not consistently bring their “A” game. They would give East their toughest game in Sectionals but seem to only have one bullet in their gun.Upfan111 wrote:Be positive Kniven.kniven wrote:Yep. Doesn’t look like CEC can finish any lower than the 4 seed since they own the tiebreaker vs Marshall. I assume Elk River needs to win their final 2 games to secure the 3 seed.kniven wrote:Yep.
