He leads the USHL in scoring as last time I checked. So did Casey Mittelstadt when he returned for his senior year and he was the 8th pick. At some point the NHL teams have seen enough of a kid to know if they'll select them in the draft. He's past that point. My two cents is he should play wherever he thinks it'll be the most fun. Hockey's going to seem like work soon enough.

In retrospect the Sabres probably wish they had seen less of Casey leading up to the draftO-townClown wrote: ↑Tue Nov 02, 2021 3:16 pmHe leads the USHL in scoring as last time I checked. Casey’s game was sort of revitalized when the Sabres shook up their coaching staff mid-season last year. He was promoted to first line center to start this season, but he was unfortunately injured in their first game.Stang5280 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 02, 2021 3:56 pmIn retrospect the Sabres probably wish they had seen less of Casey leading up to the draftO-townClown wrote: ↑Tue Nov 02, 2021 3:16 pmHe leads the USHL in scoring as last time I checked. He and Sammy Walker were two players I enjoyed watching the most at the HS level in the last ten years or so.

Last I heard Jimmy Clark was planning to do before and after in the USHL and was named captain at Edina. Is there different info out there?

Danny Nelson of Maple Grove is with the USNTDP U17 in Finland. Is it just for the 4 nations tournament?

Must be. He was playing Elite League two weeks ago and then rostered on an IIT team. National team must have had a temporary opening.WarmUpTheBus wrote: ↑Sun Nov 14, 2021 11:44 am Danny Nelson of Maple Grove is with the USNTDP U17 in Finland. Is it just for the 4 nations tournament?

Have a hard time seeing Bump come back, 2nd leading scorer in Omaha in his draft year.
Anyone have any word on if Gavin O’Connell is coming back for Wayzata?

Sam Rice was with St. Cloud in the NAHL, Justin Kingery was with Fairbanks AAA, and Will Schumacher was with the MN Magicians of the NAHL. How many of these three?InThePipes wrote: ↑Mon Nov 15, 2021 6:26 amHearing rumblings that multiple PL players may remain in Jr, can anyone verify?
(And Bump, of course, who's doing quite well with Omaha. He's already on the list.)

Sam Rice actually has been with Chippewa the past 2 weekends. He has performed quite well. The Exiled One wrote: ↑Mon Nov 15, 2021 3:24 pmSam Rice was with St. Cloud in the NAHL, Justin Kingery was with Fairbanks AAA, and Will Schumacher was with the MN Magicians of the NAHL. I don't believe Schumacher is coming back.

Agree a million percent. We all celebrate how awesome Minnesota HS hockey is. So good that kids don't have to leave. In order for that to be the case you need kids staying to play it. Good for these guys.
To me when a Paul Bittner leaves it is completely different from a player on a Top 15 team facing a solid schedule. Prior Lake has a chance to reach the state tournament and these kids will never be forgotten in their hometown if they do. You don't get the same thing playing Junior hockey in Iowa.

Why is Justin Kingery listed as leaving? He played on a fall midget team like almost every other kid. Did he leave school?

Is Reed Kluender from SSP coming back? My guess would be no.

Re: Early Departures 2021-22
Can someone confirm what the current rules are with regards to these kids playing in juniors? Did they have to be back for the first day of practice to be eligible to play? Or is it similar to youth hockey where they have to be rostered by a certain time (i.e. 1st of the year).
I know last year was a little different with Covid, but I was wondering what the most current rules from MSHSL are.
There seems to be a thread on this every year, but it always seems to change on what is allowed.
