1A- Northfield over Rochester Lourdes
2A- Delano over MPLS
3A- Mankato East over New Ulm
4A- Mahtomedi over Chisago Lakes
5A- Little Falls over SCC
6A- Fergus Falls over Alex
7A- Hermantown over Denfeld
8A- Warroad over EGF
Sticking to my preseason picks feeling a little uneasy about Fergus and the Flyers but the rest I feel good about cant wait to see the upsets or maybe this is the year of chalk all to way to a Hermantown vs Warroad Title Game
Watched EGF play Grand Forks Central. They looked slow and out of sync. So disappointing for a Palmo coached team. You are giving them too much credit. I do not believe they will make it to the 8A ship.

What is a Green Wave anyway?
Re: A Rankings for 2/13/22
TTpuckster I do trust your opinion. My thoughts on this are that if and its huge IF EGF can beat TRF this week they will lock into the #2 seed and push TRF to the #4 seed on the Warriors side of the Section Bracket. That means they will draw #3 Detroit Lakes, whom has not played a good schedule and their tie with RLF indicates, they may not be as strong as their record appears. I would take EGF over DL in Section Semi @EGF where the 8A playoffs are held this year. They have been horrid at times but I still think Jaksen Panzer and Palmo and Oliver's coaching will get them back to the Section Final.TTpuckster wrote: ↑Mon Feb 14, 2022 9:01 amIClassAGuy wrote: ↑Sun Feb 13, 2022 11:49 amAgreed! The Flyers used a similar formula to knock off SCC as the rematch was much like the first match up with the teams knotted up after 2 periods. Again like the first time around the Flyers used a big 3 goal third period it was freshman Joey Welinski who scored the GW goal and the Flyers picked up a big Section 5A Sweep of SCC.

The Prowlers picked up their best win of the year as they blew out EGF at home. Tysen Loeffler has a big 3 point night and TRF was in total control throughout the game to continue theri recent string of very good play. The win should give them the three seed and help avoid Warrod in the 8A semis.

UPSET OF THE NIGHT
Anoka 3 #14 Cambridge Isanti 2
Cambridge dropped a clunker on the road to struggling Anoka in a game where they out shot the Tornadoes and had a 2-1 lead behind Treyten Green’s 2 goal night they let the game slip away and dropped their 3rd game in the last 4 to continue a really poor stretch of play heading to the playoffs.

Thursday Night (2/17/22) Class A Recap-
Games of the Night-
#8 Detroit Lakes 2 #9 Little Falls 2
In a Class A Top 10 Battle the Flyers twice held a one goal lead. It looked as though Little Falls would pick up a big road win when they scored with under two minutes to go in regulation play however the Lakers would tie it with under 1 minute to play and the team would have to settle the Top 10 battle with a hard fought tie.
St Cloud Cathedral 2 #14 Cambridge Isanti 1
The Crusaders won a huge Section 5A game which one would seem would have gave them the #2 seed in 5A. I guess everyone but the 5A coaches who overlooked this one and still gave Cambridge the home ice advantage for the playoffs if they meet again the Section 5A Semifinals.
Other Notable Class A Games
#3 Mahtomedi 12 South St Paul 2- The Zephyrs blew out fellow 4A South St Paul as Junior Seth Nelson led all scorers with a 4 point night.
#5 Delano 3 Monticello 1- The Tigers' Bruce Halonen had two big first period goals to help Delano hold off the Moose in a tight game.
#6 Alexandria 2 Brainerd 2- Alexandria got tied late by struggling Brainerd and were unable to do much in OT to finish the season on a disappointing tie with the Warriors.
#7 Northfield 8 Austin 0- The Raiders Spencer Klotz had 5 points on the night as Northfeild routed struggling Austin.
#11 Chisago Lakes 5 Dodge County 4- Chisago Lakes was lucky to escape with a win vs. Dodge County as they were outshot 44-25 and out player but sophomore Jack Bakken played the hero and scored the game winning goal latein the third period.
#12 Thief River Falls 4 Bemidji 2- The Prowlers finished the year on a strong note as they beat Bemidji behind Braydin Lund’s big three point night.
#13 Fergus Falls 3 St. Cloud 2- The Otters picked up a nice win on the road to end the year as they downed AA St. Cloud behind Issac Johnson’s 2 goal night.
#17 Providence Academy 9 Waconia 5- Providence Academy won a wild game vs Waconia and overcame some shaky goaltending and leaky D to win a shootout 9-5. John Reller’s hat trick was key to help the Lions pick up a much needed Section 2A win before seeding.
#19 Litchfield Dassel Cokato 6 Princeton 3- The Dragons wrapped up their year by needing a big 3rd period to break open a tie game with Pricneton. Zachary Zwilling had 3 big points and the Dragons ended the regular season on a win.
#20 New Ulm 5 Luverne 2- The Eagles were able to pick up yet another Section 3A/Big South win when they downed Luverne on the road. Braxten Hoffmann’s 4 points were the difference to help New Ulm end the season unbeaten in Section 3A play.
