In order for kids to develop a desire for, say hockey, they must be exposed to it in a positive way. If a kid is never exposed to the sport, they won't have a desire for it. If a kid is exposed to it in a negative way, the same would be true. The learning process involves being exposes and learning...

Re: Naming people and players?
In recent days I have noticed several instances of posters naming people in various public posts. Today a coach was named, accusations were made, further the poster criticized his player/son and the activities the child partakes in outside of hockey. Studly was the person who openly criticised a co...

Dmom - what ?? no soccer mentioned?? they all tried it and picked baseball instead, although the middle one just asked for soccer this week. Says he hates baseball (cause tryouts are in two weeks). Unfortunately I think we missed traveling soccer tryouts, I'm checking on it. The rec league isn't ti...

I could careless about the stuff mentioned. But I feel the need chime in. When the school opens up. Once again. Either send your child to Minnesota made. Or choose to send them to the school that best fits the families needs. I can hear it now. Everyone will be ripping on something they have ...

Abe, Truthbetold, Dmom, skateguymn, ironrangehockey55, does anyone else feel we are trapped in a warped hockey 'bored' version of Bill Murray's Groundhog's Day?? Does anyone remember how he was able to finally get the day to move forward? Maybe Feb 29th should be red iculous day? :) tomASS, To answ...

Slasher sorry if I projected my experiences over yours. You seem to understand where I am coming from. It is just a matter of mutual respect. Emails are great and any board member should appreciate that and be prompt in responding to your questions. Regarding board meetings, I really do not like le...

If you picked up the phone and called Mnmade you would find out that the guy has no interest in any Mn Hockey board position. He has met with people from Mn Hockey and they ask him what he thought about hockey in Minnesota. He said it was a good meeting. He is a very strong supporter of USA Hockey....

I was simply stating that Board members have to have personal time. Assume anything? me? Not. You have the track record there. A board member has the right to choose when and who they talk to. Yes it would be nice to have a member actualy request a meeting instead of expecting me to send my wife an...

Slasher I think the request for you to attend a board meeting to air your ideas/complaints is acceptable. I also think association members should respect the board volunteers personal time. Board members are only volunteers. They spend untold hours planning and operating your childs youth hockey ex...

Slasher or should I say Boogey. Most people can ask any questions they like about the way things are done or run, if their questions are preceived wrong then it is usually in the way they ask or conspire behind backs without gaining the knowledge first. To answer your question: Associations are all...

Bernie has a big job doing what he does and what he is trying to expand. A lot of what MN Hockey does is not related (directly) to the things Bernie does. So unless Bernie wants to compromise some of his thought process and give up some time, I would say 'No'. Having said that, I would hope there w...

Dmom- as you know every situation for every association is different. Sometimes it comes down to basically what type of ice time do we have and how can we make the most out of it with the numbers and resources we have. My experience is that most Mite programs evolve and try to make adjustments and ...

His time would be better spent on his business plan tomASS, I'll take this as a valid question. This guys gets results. Sure he makes money. You cannot argue the point he develops players. A number of kids from our association have been going to Bernie for years. They are much better for doing so. ...

Greybeard- You make a great point. That's the subject of the article. Many different avenues for players to take. Minnesota overall is doing a great job at developing the players. I think the associations are doing a great job. Just as AAA hockey is doing a great job. Just as Minnesota made is doing...

He needs to read a rule book. He didn't as a coach and he sure has not since he moved up in the booth. Only slightly less clueless on the rules then Jeff Dubay!!! Did anyone watch the game on Friday night? The big ten network did a fantastic job on covering the game. Not to mention during the inter...

Well done Greybeard! I guess I could've cut and pasted too. I just wanted to give a brief overview without having people read a book. Interesting how some of the best players in years from Minnesota gave Bernie McBain credit for developing their skills. This is only chapter one in a long book. Stay ...
