From D2:

Stillwater and WBL will be playing with D8 this year.
Forest Lake with D10.
Not positive about Roseville, but I believe they are also going to play with D10.

Just found out D2 will have a district playoff. From what I can tell that would be four teams @ bantam. three teams @pee-wee. Double elim ??? ](*,) The issue is that D2 has one auto bid to the AA regional tournament. Their teams are playing in other districts (8 & 10) for the regular season. Ho...

Correct SC, but they actually now made it even worse with the seeding process for AA. Now AA teams don't want to play A teams because of the negative impact on the seeding.

[/quote] I don't see how everyone could not see this coming. I am honestly curious as to what the people on the side of creating this new (call it what it is) naming system thought this would do? What on earth was it going to change? Seriously, what could the outcome had been otherwise? Please someo...

Doesn't this happen every year in St. Cloud?

May be off topic, but I felt yesterday's games really lacked emotion. I think a part of the reason my be the lack of band participation. I can understand Roseau not having a band, but EP & Stillwater?...really? Were there reasons why they were not there? Just curious. I heard the EP band was at...

Here's the rule from the MN Hockey handbook: Peewee A and Bantam A teams will be split into "A" and "AA" sub-divisions at the end of the season for the purpose of State Tournaments and associated playdowns. The process to do this will be as follows: 1. The AA sub-division was ini...

That was the purpose of the split. It was suppose to allow the small associations top teams to have a chance to get to state.

Since the whole point of the AA/A is post season. The two AA's would not play in the District A tournament. AA will have a seeding process to set up the four regions this year.

In an ideal world all associations would be able to do it based on talent level. You may have a big association with a shallow talent pool, should they be forced to push kids up to AA level? On the flip side should a small association not opt up for 1 year if they have a really strong group. In my v...

the problem is that if a team in these assc. finish at .500 they think of it as a failure. if they can be competitive and win more than they lose they are at the right level. that many teams and only 1 AA/A team is BS This only holds true if the AA/A was meant to create a new level, then I agree wi...

Maybe some of these associations have recognized that the "AA" and "A" designations were intended for post season play only, and that the original intent was for programs to field one "AA or A" team at the bantam and pee wee levels and not both. Unless OMGHA has two hi...

I thought the original system was put in place to treat it like the high school system ? if your a AA high school skate AA if single A then skate A. ? in some cases, a program like Mahtomedi. their high school is Class A. but in district 2 the youth teams play Stillwater, White Bear, Forest Lake, M...

Because as with Sta, Breck will not be able to win it without getting help from the refs. 8) Am I missing something with the end of the STA/Herm game? Hermantown player pulls a STA player down with the puck, gets a well deserved (albeit very stupid) penalty. During ensuing power play two players fi...

I think Fred picked these on opposite day, the chances of the two district 5 teams winning a combined one game is ten times more likely then Fred's bracket picks.

I thought I did give credit to the success Princeton and North Branch, in addition to about 25 other programs that have shown success at the District level? I viewed Princeton's game schedule and the scores would suggest they beat opponents in the 2nd half of the season that had beaten them the 1st...

Very interesting. I always thought the purpose of the split was to give smaller associations (a category I would put most northern associations in) their own A tourney. Now the implementation was terrible, and the big metro associations destroyed that concept. I find it interesting that the north is...
