Were any of the 14U Maroon teams made up of 14 year olds? Summer hockey is played at the level where the players will find themselves in the fall. 14U means 14 and under for the winter season. That will include before July 1 12 year olds, all 13 year olds and after July 1 14 year olds. So, many gir...

Congrats to the 99 Velocity and MN Saints for winning their divisions. That being said, Inigio, are you honestly calling out the Ice Cats, OS and Edge for playing up? Are you upset that they decided to play up in the 14U Maroon division, (the upper division of 14's). They did very well and in fact ...

The fact that adults are bickering over who are the best teams in the off-season U12 season is in itself a very good indicator that the sport is very healthy. There have been some reports that numbers have peaked and girls' hockey is in decline. (Some say the high-water mark is with the '95s, other ...

Re: Open Coaching Positions
Girl's Coaching Staff at Armstrong High School in Plymouth just resigned This isn't as dramatic as it sounds. The staff no longer exists because the team no longer exists. The current Armstrong staff has to apply for the position like anybody else because there will be a new team, the Robbinsdale c...

I wasn't trying to knock the teams that were there or the organizers or anything. I'm just saying that the choice of this weekend was bizarre to have a U14 tournament (1996-97 birth years) when the top 160 '96s had more important business across town. Considering what was riding on the Adv. 15 games...

I appreciate your input - I just feel that the proliferation of all the so called AAA teams have bastardized the true meaning of AAA. When you speak to true AAA organizations around the country - they do understand who the legitimate AAA teams are so I do understand it and they just chuckle at what...

A few observarions: Many parents have their girls play Mites/Squirts because they don't trust girls' hockey to be competetive. Once their kid skates with some good U10s in the offseason they're sold quickly on the move to the girls side. The only examples I've seen lately (say the last 3 years) of g...

yea - Highland Park is real diversifed - the increased number of catholics and lutherans has really changed the demographics  Over the past 4 years - since the downturn in property values across the country, The Highland Park area in St. Paul is one of only areas in the entire country that has...

From what I can see - St. Paul Hockey - at least in Highland - is not suffering. If I'm correct, I'm pretty sure that the Highland Park area is undergoing the same demographic changes that have occurred around the rest of St. Paul. It just isn't apparent yet. So while things seem peachy now, it may...

I know that three, maybe even four girls on the U14 AAA Bulldogs are 96's and are dominating at the 95 level. #2, #9 and #5 are their numbers. Dominating? The same U14 Bulldogs that went 1-3 in the Easton Cup? I know who you're talking about, and they're good players, but to use your definition, th...

My opinion: If an association offers a U12A team for a 7th grader or a U14A team for an 8th grader, I can't think of a good reason for a kid to play JV. Two programs that I know of, Roseville and Stillwater, have the 'no middle-schoolers on JV' rule (IMO all schools should have this rule, with excep...

None of the tournament locations are posted on the MH website yet. I'd bet anything that EP will win the U12A State Tournament in 2010. I would have bet anything at this time last year that Lakeville would win it in 2009. They finished 4th. Either I don't have a clue, or it's a good thing there's no...

Rumor: The Stillwater board is foisting a professional relationship between the Association and Edge Hockey Inc. upon its members. The Board does not feel there is a conflict of interests in the fact that the Association president (as well as Housley and company) are owners of Edge hockey. Wow! That...
