Whining vs. No Whining

As a first year user of this forum, I have observed a substantial degradation in the quality of the posts as the season progresses into playoffs. I used to enjoy reading the opinions of many others, the majority of which actually had intelligent, informative or at least entertaining points of view. ...

How about a high school coach that has a much smaller talent pool to work with and produces winning teams time and again ? I'd put Hal Tearse of Providence Academy in this category. No track record of sustained success yet, but he does know how to extract the most out of the available talent, and i...

I better say TRF over Warroad on the rare chance of being the only one right. It would be rare for you to be right :D We got a bingo! I think that makes 1-27 in predictions this year. Actual: You may not have a good prediction track record, but IMO you have the best sense of humor of any poster! Ke...

Best Program to never have won State

My vote: Minnetonka.

Shall we close the polls?

Based on these mid-season numbers, looks like the Fasching kid from AV is having a real impact, and against quality opponents.

Haven't seen him play - is he the real deal?

Here is another way to look at this, rather than total points. Not saying its better, just a different way. Idea is to look at contribution to the team, as measured by percentage of total team points. This may reduce the impact of strong team/weak schedule effect that you get if you just look at ind...

I think there is a slim to none chance of anyone upsetting Breck. At this stage, I would rank order the next 5 teams:

Blake
Tie: Orono, Holy Family, Providence, Mound

Agreed!! Bringing that HM superiority attitude to this thread is out of line. Start your own forum for that stuff. Losing to Tonka, particularly at Pagel, is no knock-out statement on Stillwater. They had a respectable showing.

Excellent idea. Would be great if you can make it searchable by team and opponent. Also, if you can have choices for full game or just selected highlights. Finally, would be great if there is a mini-scoreboard showing where in the game we are - period, time and score. Name suggestions would be: Hock...

Not going to happen. Orono is overrated - lost too much talent from last year. 5-1 or more in Breck's favor.

Won't even be close. If we were in Vegas, the books would have the spread at 5 goals in Tonka's favor. I'd still put my $$ on Tonka.

Slap Shot is right on. No offense to our good friends in EP, but the Tonka/Edina rivalry was red hot when EP was still a farm school. Makes me think of those packed section championships at the Met Center.

I can't point to any simple list of factors, but I agree that this program could have been a powerhouse. Now it appears to be all downhill for the Chaska/Chan high school programs. They have this season and next as a combined program and then go their separate ways. With the continued loss of player...

He can play Varsity at PL if he still lives in PL school district. When you transfer to another school and haven't moved out of the original school district, you are still eligible to play Varsity sports for the school district you live in (in this case PL) The player would have had to play JV at A...

You HM, Stillwater & WBL fans should start a separate thread for your rivalry chatter. Its going to be either Tonka, EP or Blaine this year. My vote is Tonka takes it all.

I also agree with Starmvp on Tonka over EP. Tonka probably has the most loaded team since Jefferson in the 90's. Only lost 2 players from last year's team; 4 committed D1 players (3D & 1 F); returning a goalie with 2 years of varsity experience; and they have at least 2 other forwards with bona ...

1965??? If we're returning to that era, then Eden Prairie would be a small farm school, Centennial wouldn't exist, and the Catholic schools wouldn't know what hockey is. Seriously, on this pre-season top 20 ranking, I would take Orono and New Prague off, and add Delano (in the top 10) and Faribault....

I think the conference will be tighter this year than it has been for a while. With the exception of Waconia, its wide open. Cathedral is the favorite, but without Nate Schmidt they're not the same team as last year. Delano should have a strong offense with Heinonen and Mclain but they will be relyi...
