Re: Will Curt Giles ever get his due?
Personality/intangibles Giles: I think being as reserved as he is keeps him from sometimes getting as much attention as he could. He could probably have a more iconic status if Edina played on Hockey Day every time they were invited or if he gave long interviews at every opportunity. I suspect Curt...

Re: 16 Subsection Model
Overall, it’s a nice model that needs some tweaking ‘g biggest issue is making all but on Metro team go up to Duluth to play. I do not get why that should be the case. Just move it to Mariucci.

Re: AA title: Edina vs EP
I do agree that folks these days love hyperbole, but it shouldn't take anything away from the kids effort as both sides played with all they had. I feel like "classic" is entirely subjective. Any state title game for your hometown team ought to be a classic regardless of the score. The Ed...

Re: AA QF: Moorhead vs. #1 Edina
10 year anniversary of the 5-2 upset. Interesting reading all the notes & recollections from people on the Moorhead side. Not surprising that there isn't much said from the Edina side. That last part is accurate. Being an Edina grad, that game stings. It was the first year I had followed the te...

Re: Play-off Games Wedneday 2-27-19
Is it inappropriate to watch section finals streamed on my laptop from a hot tub at my home in Cali? Cause that's where I'll be... Not sure who to cheer for tonight, but I suppose I'd like to see Brainerd make it for once and their coach has the Blaine connection... Not at all. I’m enjoying a beer ...

Re: Last 16 State Winners: Rank 'Em
My rankings (keeping it since I remember truly watching in '09) 1. Edina 2014 - Most fun I have had being a senior at the school and in the band. 2. Minnetonka 2018 - So dominant and as Karl said, the other top teams were right there with them and they beat them all 3. Lakeville North 2015 - Undefea...

Re: Last 16 State Winners: Rank 'Em
7. Edina 2013 -Basically the 2014 team one year younger. Had a couple somewhat closer calls and more regular season losses than many others, but still pretty convincing in their march to the title. I am going to respectfully disagree here, Karl. I am okay with where this team is ranked, but I do no...

Still scratching my head on the Chorske move up? Was there a need that had to be filled? Was he tearing it up on jv and just had to have him out there? Extremely strange timing and would think it would be bad for moral.. Does anybody know anything or is this a mute subject? It was changed for the L...

Re: Post Edina / Tonka vibe
Edina has kinks, but this loss was just what they needed. Humility and re-invigorated to enter sections/state in hungry and ticked off mindset. Now just no more more 'Dumb & Dumber' activities off-ice and they'll hopefully meet Tonka for Game #4 at state at some point...maybe DE. But I dare to ...

Glockner is #1 on the roster Howe is #30 number 30 was playing last night. So unless I’m missing something Howe had a great game last night! Interested in your reasoning to keeping Edina at 1. Not opposed to it by any means, I mean look at my username, but both losses are to Tonka and they looked off in both occasions.

Re: Vorlicky
Hopefully! I would love to see a Round 4 of this rivalry this year. As much as I want to avoid it too haha. Tonka is scary good with defensemen who move the puck well and big forwards. They both have to navigate sections though which is tricky in 2AA and 6AA.

Correction: I believe both Crosby and Koumontzis started the first game despite being down with the flu and were pretty ineffective. But either way I'd like to see these two teams at their full strength best in March. Komountzis was out due to a one-game academic probation. Agreed that this rubber-...

Three passes in the zone, and only after that shoot on your back hand. I think that would be more humiliating than loosing 20-0. Sounds like Edina did the best they could in a bad situation. Yup. There is not much you can do in hockey. A friend of mine made the good point that if they were serious ...

Hockey wouldn't be hockey if it was mainstream enough to get celebrity attention. Its kinda the point. You're either all in or don't get it and don't bother with it. Its hard to be a casual fan who never played and doesn't understand the nuances of the game, that caps the fan base and I'm fine with...

Re: Super Bowl "bump"
I don’t think there’s been anything to capitalize on it. It takes a lot of talk and a lot of marketing efforts to really make it happen. Basketball would probably get the bump before, hell look at the Wolves with the bump they saw in notable figures over the Wild last night. However, there have been...

Edina vs Wayzata
One to keep an eye from the standpoint of how the Wayzata-Tonka game ended last week with kids leaving the ice, a ref being injured, and punches being thrown. Yes, punches were thrown even if it just led to game misconducts.
Could get chippy early.
