Rube- First, as noted previously, I sought only to provide some perspective. Note that my original post said that I did not agree 100% with finance gal's commentary, and that I felt she had a few good points. Second, "Too bad that many get missed for what are believed to be the best". I wo...

I was not attempting to offer an "answer", merely some perspective. Note that at no time did I say that "all coaches are fair." I've seen very good people and horrible people in this game (coaches, administrators, and parents alike), and I'm sure that there are coaches out there ...

I do not 100% agree with finance gal, although I think she has a few good points. From past postings, it would appear that she has had a rather negative experience with her daughter's coaches in the past.....since I couldn't possibly know any of the details, I won't argue about any of this or disres...

The legality is that your daughter has the right to play in either the "youth" or "girls" programs. Association tryout rules generally govern what you can or cannot do within that framwork. If I read this thread correctly, you wish to try your daughter out for squirts, and if she...

I think that altering the current system in the manner advocated by O-Town is unnecessary and would create more problems than it would solve (presuming that there is actually a problem needing a solution). For one, the seeding of sections would take on a level of added importance that would probably...

Twinnesota has this nailed. Those Austin girls worked as hard as anyone else to win their section and get to the X. Hopefully they will remember the experience forever. Losing one game to what amounts to an all-star team should not define them. Arguments about "legitimacy" get very old. Th...

Quote: Under the new alignment your squad deserves to be going, but please don’t fool your self into thinking if Stillwater or even WBL was still in Section 5 that this would still be the case. Well, maybe and maybe not. Neither of them (Stillwater and WBL) are going from their own (admittedly diff...

The fishie in the picture can't possibly represent H-M, as it will be eaten by a bear at the end of it's trip upstream. This pretty much never happens in the case of H-M. :D

1) If you make the crappy pass that goes to the other side of the lake, you have to go get it, and/or If you wing the puck outside of the rink into the snow, you have to go get it.
2) If you fail to keep your head up and move the puck, you deserve whatever's coming to you.

HH- You claim that I am making a lot of assumptions. This is not true. I have attempted to show how perspectives may be different dependent on how transfers affect different individuals. A few points: I am unaware of any situation where transferring does not involve a choice, except for possible exp...

Great thread, and some excellent posts: My two cents: First, Joe has one thing nailed that rarely gets considered. That parent who coaches is generally the person willing to organize all of the incredibly time consuming activities for not only their kid, but everyone elses (a fact which is too often...

HH-While I respect the opinion, I can't agree with much of your post. A few thoughts- First, "Tragedy" is a poor choice of words. Missing a season if a player decides to transfer schools is no doubt unpleasant, and perhaps traumatic, but it's not really a tragedy in the grand scheme of thi...

A deeper read in the story seems to indicate that they've got an internal guy ready to take over, and that Ryan will stay on as a " senior advisor" for scouting or something like that. Anyone want to guess on what the reason for his leaving will be? One would think that the prospect of try...

Well said Packerboy, and thanks. I'll add one. I'll never forget briefing our manufacturing team on that horrible day. As I explained the day's events to the group, several of the older workers had tears rolling down their faces. Later when I asked why, I found that these folks (mostly born in SE As...

One also wonders what the costs of disposing of all of the rubble is, and how far the disposal companies would have to haul it. I'd think those costs would add up pretty quick. 15 Mil is still a lot though....

Not to hijack the 1A thread any further.....but while on this topic it should be noted that Mayo has a very nice club. After last weekend I would pay special attention to their goaltender. Outstanding suggestions by keepitreal. I might add that exposing as many 8 and under/10 and under young female athletes to the game pays amazing dividends. Unfortunately, sometimes you have to win over the parents (who might not think hockey is a good fit for girls), but once they start playing, the...

Kudos to Bensonmum. I couldn't agree more with your comments. As for Hux.....Our experience with OS has been nothing but positive, and the training programs have been great. I have found that Ms. Brodt has contributed to substantial improvement in my kids' games, especially their skating. It is hard...

Thanks 14all. After a few weeks of reading posts about these programs, I think your comments are right on the money. North Metro

What did he do this year? He took 3 subpar teams, put them together and made a team that could actually compete. If other teams were able to do this like park center was the teams would actually be 3 lines deep. For being an allstar team as thier name suggests (stars) North Metro should not be gett...
