Good chance that both will leave their HS teams, but lots of kids tender with the NAHL and end up back in HS. I'll keep an eye on both of them, but I won't add them until we see how things shake out. §

OTC . Considering the uncertainties of high school and mshsl season , Do you have a list you want to share of greater than 50% Likely early departures?
Be interesting to see how it plays out. Not sure if I’m interpreting your comment right WestMetro......but are the odds higher that the high school season will happen.....or are the odds higher that the junior hockey season will happen?

I personally think it's a toss-up. The junior season may go by the wayside from a financial perspective if they aren't allowed to generate any gate revenue due to policies prohibiting fans attending at any capacity level. Therefore the owners may choose to take a season off in an effort to mitigate financial losses. The MN high school season could go by the wayside due to the MN government's and department of education's decision making process.
If I had a put $ on one side or the other, I'd say the junior season has higher likelihood of occurring based on recent history.
It is likely some junior teams in certain states will play. Iowa, South Dakota, and Wisconsin are allowing more than Minnesota and Illinois. Then you have local mask rules...exemptions are garbage. Minneapolis has a mask rule but the Twins are given an exemption. Not the townball teams playing the same game...... as stated before I think some owners will close up shop this season.
The Saints and the Northwoods league baseball show even within leagues things will be dependent on local rules.
Just realized I posted this over in last year's thread.
Alexandria senior Joe Westland will be leaving the Cardinals and transferring to the Northstar Christian Academy in Alex. He had 14 goals and 17 assists as a junior with the Cardinals.
The Knights also added three Alex players to their first year U16 team.
One school of thought says it makes sense for players to leave HS teams for Junior hockey because the MSHSL could be quick to pull the trigger on the HS season. I think this is the majority viewpoint.
I've been on the other side saying Junior leagues may not be able to operate without fans. USHL & NAHL teams rely on gate. Today Corpus Christi announced they are taking this season off.
Lest anyone think the NCDC, which is supported by a tariff on all affiliated P2P Youth teams, provides a safe haven...the schedule came out and for now Massachusetts based teams are showing an undisclosed New Hampshire location for the site of home games. If Massachusetts remains shut down it will be hard for that league to operate.

"O-town"... Personally, I agree with you that I find it difficult to believe that many of the Junior teams will be able to operate without the ability to have unlimited attendance each night. In case you haven't seen it, I posted in a different thread that a third-hand source that I trust indicated the NAHL had an emergency owners meeting last Monday and, although Frankenfeld (the commissioner) was adamant they would have a full season, apparently, the two Alaska teams and all of the Southern Division teams had indicated they were all likely to be taking the season off. Either due to limitations on number of fans allowed in the buildings or, the municipally owned buildings actually being closed due to Covid.

Not entirely true - maybe the South might - but Fairbanks announced it will play in Marshall, MN until January 21st - with the hopes of going back to Fairbanks. Kenai River is doing the same - they are going to set up their team in Minnesota until at least Jan 1. Both could extend and stay in MN for duration of season.
Imho parents , kids and even leagues at this point are just protecting all their options all the way thru sept and Oct . In some cases kids protecting Juniors and HS Option, in others cases with Tier 1 and HS option, in other cases private leagues and HS . In some cases , more than 2 . And it won’t be too long before some will protect with a Minn Hockey option also
Some absolutely crazy Individual kid situations that would be impossible to believe in other years
Meanwhile rinks are open and kids playing hockey
And as I said in a different thread , there will be hockey this season , just a question of which leagues , who is sanctioning , and who ends up where . But I’m pretty sure there won’t be a 100,000 spectator Trny at the X in March

"West".... agree completely with you again. This is becoming a regular occurrence...
