Edina's 14 Group WAS one of the strongest, but we lost 7 A kids to various HS programs. Had that group stayed, the 14s would probably be the best in the state.

Edina/Centennial wasn't as close as the score might indicate.

Why play with girls anymore at U10? The big reason before was that you were coming back at U12. Why not just skate with the boys the whole way, and if you can't hook on at JV when you're 14, you just play there for a year.

No, this will seriously lower the quality of U12 hockey across the board.

Parents want the best competition for their kids, no matter what their sex is. There is no question that the massively larger number of kids will lead to faster, better hockey for girls, no matter their playing level. It will be great for girls hockey at the high school level, but I think if will ca...

I think parents will put their kids where they think they can get the best coaching AND the best competition. If a girl won't get hit until the 14's now, the very best girls WILL come to the boys program. Will they beat out the best boys? Probably not, but if your kid's on the bubble, you might have...

To the contrary - most of the Edina girls who went the Boys route in Squirts ended up near the top of U12s when they rejoineed - not all, but remember Edina has a ton of girls in the program. I just wonder how many of those will head to Boys now that they won't get hit until 14s, if they even end up...

Well, as far as the 14s went, they had a tough draw, and there were a bunch of good teams at State. Let's also remember they sent another team to regions at that level.

Edina doesn't have as many girls playing squirts this year when compared to years past. There are a few Edina girls playing Choice squirts. Sorry, that's what I meant. The assumption was they were probably coming back to play U12 next year, and that that team might be pretty good. If they play Pee ...

No, this hurts Edina, Wayzata, Woodbury, all those teams, because "A Type" parents want their girls competing against the best. All I see it hurting is the boys, who don't learn how to take a hit until they're hit by a much larger opponent.

Based on what we saw this weekend, it's real hard to bet against Centennial. Unless their limited bench gets those top girls too tired, they have the best top-end talent.

Woodbury, Chaska, and Minnetonka will all be tough.

But the Big Red impressed me the most.

New coach for Edina this year at 12A and I bet they roll their lines. Based on last night's scrimmage, where they had FIVE lines, their top 3 lines looked pretty even. Some kids who'll skate past you, some who'll skate around you, and some who'll skate through you. They'll be young, maybe a little s...

Edina doubles the Fun

On the Edina site today, word that the Edina Hockey Association will field 2 Squirt A teams, 2 U12A teams, and 2 U14A teams. They will be unbalanced with D6's blessing.
