Very curious to see what happens when the next crop of US peewee players hit bantam at 160 lbs and get their first introduction to full contact. I can't help but think that many bad habits like skating with your head down are going to be tough to break over next two years when transitioning to banta...

If your boy was a bubble B player 1st year, it is not abnormal for the bottom B group to be displaced into C especially with a good 1st year group coming up. It is not guaranteed that a player cannot drop down. The only way to truly answer the question is to look at the final B roster and determine ...

Must of been at the wrong rink for the stuff you were talking about because no one pulled a goalie the whole tournament and no one was close to getting a hat trick for the whole team so not quite sure where that rumor came from. As for the officiating, I thought it was very good all weekend and i gu...

Mr. Hockey sounds like you didn't watch any of the games as Laroque or his son didn't actually attend the tourney. Sounds like you should talk to refs and tournament officials before trusting your coach's spin. As for the Red Rum Renegades you are so quick to support, I guess you likely didn't get t...

And problem just isn't in Minnesota with growing number of check book AAA programs. Canada has a new OTS Flyers program out of Thunder Bay similar to Northland. Check out some of the open scores where Machine and Jr. Steelers ended up in same division in some cases and destroyed these house league 2...

Problem with these tourneys is you don't know who's showing up and some the so called AAA teams that are more like house league this year. The Northland group expanded from the Loons over the last 2 years to now over 50 teams in all divisions. Is there that much more talent this year or has open AAA...

I apologize I was all wrong. I heard Boston is thinking of pulling out of game 7 because of that dirty hit on Horton. CCM is totally right in teaching their kids to quit when the competition plays too tough.

your poster refer to parents and coaches as retards and suggest their kids are going to end up in prison and you have the nerve to get on your high horse and call me demeaning. All I can say is if I ran a tournament CCM can look elsewhere and you may find that is not just my opinion which I thought ...

I think if parents on a team want to start having debates and votes on the extremely subjective concept of what teams are "dirty" and "cheap shots" then tournament committees everywhere beware. Maybe we can organize debates and determine which teams we will and wont play and I gu...

Thanks to online stats. Check out the penalty minutes in 98 division over 5 games. 6 teams including the CCM flyers were within 10 penalties of the Thunder for the whole tournament. Minneapolis doesn't exactly have a reputation for letting things go and an average of 8 penalties per game on average ...

Was this pond hockey with no refs? If your kid is scared to play other kids the exact same age who are 12 and 13 years old and just over 100lbs soaking wet you better get him out of hockey. When you go into first years bantams in 3 months your kids will be playing 180lb 14 and 15 year olds who truly...

CCM forfeited a championship game because it was too rough? Thats a great lesson for the kids going into bantam hockey this year - When the going gets tough pack up your gear and go home. Maybe CCM can start up a new non-contact league or see if their boys can play in the girls hockey league.

Some of these posters get pretty wrapped up in 8 and 9 year old hockey. Everything changes in 3 years so I don't know what all the 2002 this versus 2002 that is so focused on. Relax and enjoy it while it lasts.

I think football should be looked at next. This whole physical contact thing shouldn't be in the game. Give me a break. If you focus on teaching proper hitting techniques which many coaches don't and focus on enforcement problem solved. All banning peewee hitting for 80lb kids does is make sure 150l...

All I can say is Mr. Laroque coached my 13 year old for approximately 20 AAA games this summer and he was a pleasure throughout. I was shocked to see the article. We are Canadian and played alot of US AAA hockey this year in Minnesota. As I do every year, I pull my son aside and ask his honest opini...

I would say dominate would be word that could be used in 2 games by Can/AM when they won 10 and 11 to 0. The other games were not quite that lopsided, but I talked to more than one fan that saw the Min/Wis vs Can/Am game and Can/Am easily outshot them 30 or 35 to 10. The Min/Wis goalie had an absolu...

I guess you must have pretty good talent up there if there are still better players, but I wasn't sure which kids were US and which were Canadian. The CAN/AM team had some pretty depth as far a strong kids go. I thought there were also a group of other top Thunder Bay kids playing for the Lake Super...

I know that MIN/WIS Elite draws from 4 or 5 summer AAA teams like Jr. Bulldogs, Fargo Junior Force and Wisconsin Jr. Badgers. I think they also may draw from Wisconsin Jr. Warriors and Jr. North Stars.

Girls playing in boys tournaments

Just wanting to clarify as things are getting warped in this many posts. The 97 Loons defeated the girls AAA team which was very talented by scors of 8-1 twice handily. They are not a C team rec hockey team and in fact came in a close 2nd in this year international cup and 3rd in Pepsi Cup. However,...
