Correct, though they will still stop for TV timeouts. nope. 7-0 St. Thomas academy and clock stopping. I thought that was the case for state games. i They don't run the clock until the 3rd period. There apparently was a tweet from the MSHSL, running time does not apply to TV games. That also confir...

maybe someone else can contradict me, but I don't believe they do running time at state. Refs are letting the little stuff go, just the way I think it should be done There is still running time if up by 6 or more at state. Almost positive. Dont need to extend the game anymore than it already is. Co...

I'll give Hermantown 6 out of 8 on the spectator ratings. I don't see a mascot and don't see anything worth them getting the misc point.

The "Welcome to Duluth" sign is about 4 miles from the rink. Of course they bring kids, they are a AA school. (or should be) yeah i grew up just outside Duluth. Could they compete with the big schools? Sure. My opinion is to have a lot less AA schools. The AA tourney wouldn't suffer and t...

Atmosphere already a ton better than last game. Hermantown always has a great student section, good amount of them and they're involved in the game The "Welcome to Duluth" sign is about 4 miles from the rink. Of course they bring kids, they are a AA school. (or should be) yeah i grew up j...

the numbers on the back of Marshall's Jerseys look tiny. Could be because Brecks are big but I don't think so

doing my school rating thing I've done other years I'm giving Marshall a 2 out of 8, points for having a band and number of fans. Breck I'll give them a 1 out of 8, I'm giving them a misc point because I like how their students have bright colors on. Schools get points for having things like bands, ...

Marshall hasn't allowed tons of great chances, but looks like Breck isn't the same as other years where they made eVen great teams look like bantam teams.

Game is closer than I thought at this point. Marshall goalie doing good. Still seems that SW Minnesota is far behind the rest of state in hockey. Biggest issue down there is numbers. Every kid has a place on the team whether they work or not. Some play more than others but I don't know that any tea...

I see "good" and "hot' as being different, though not mutually exclusive. To me. and I think to most, "hot" means playing great, above one's normal level, and making an unusually high number of saves that amaze people. By definition, a goalie cannot be hot all season. Spot ...

Enough about the home ice advantage, the fact is East beat them in the regular season. Using criteria from other sections, with the better record and head to head East would have had home ice anyhow. If home ice is such a big advantage outstate teams are cheated at every state tournament. Personaly...

Certainly is interesting. My quick check I only have seen 2 OT games in either class for the Quarter-finals that have gone more than one overtime in the 2000s. Edina/Hill-Murray in 2000 and East/White Bear in 2011. Both finished in the second OT.

I agree with NorthwoodsOldtimer 100% on this one...the fact is any Duluth (or located within 15 miles of Duluth) team, including DM and DD in single A, DE and Cloquet in AA, and Hermantown (although they don't play their section games at Amsoil) get a BIG advantage at AMSOIL, especially for theThur...

Re: Different Teams at the Xcel

Some different teams at the State Tournament would create a more exciting atmospherre. The same teams (Edina, Hill-Murray, Moorhead, Eden Praire, Blaine, Duluth East) year after year takes away some of the interest. What I would like to see. Seems you're not looking much at long-term. Some of those...

Reading online I'm amazed at the size of the crowd. There must not have been many open seats. Crazy. Wish I lived close so I could have went. Those who went to the game, how did the building look (open seats, etc)? Its pretty funny how perspective affects reaction. It's all perspective, and most hoc...

This past cycle their were 12 co-ops in AA, 5 were in AA anyhow, 5 were way over the limit, and 2; St. Cloud Tech and Northern Lakes could drop a school and be back in A (St Cloud Tech won't be in A even if they do drop Holdingford next year I believe). New Ulm should be in AA next year but if they...
