It is a pretty tough call. From the outside it is easy to say, play everyone evenly, you never know who will be a star. Does sitting Jimmy down for the third period break his confidence... of course. Does it possibly get him to a state tourney banquet, with guest speakers and cake for dessert... may...

Numbers, Numbers, Numbers. I guess if you have 300 players trying out vs. 60, you are going to have deeper teams. The huge associations dominate the B1's because their average guy, is much better than the average guy in the small association. Depth is very important, but you can't look past the impo...

It seems like every District has its own way of putting together a District tourney. Depending on number of teams etc. However... everyone knows the rules going into it, and the only good way to move on is to beat everyone you play. If you win all your games, you are in good shape... other than that...

Observer... I think you are pointing the finger at the wrong guy. I think everyone understands that kids won't get a chance to improve if they are the only good player in Altoona, Wausau, or whatever. So you band the good guys together so they can go compete. People do realize that, but when Badgerd...

Madison didn't beat East by that much... 6-4 with an empty netter. Tier One might have its advantages, but you are comparing apples and oranges... in Minnesota there is neighborhood pride incorporated in teams, not just hand picked all star teams. For neighborhoods to compete against metropolitan ar...

I'll agree with Grand Rapids and Roseau. These are places that for the most part compete every year. I put Edina and Duluth East into that grouping too. It is interesting to see different communities make a run for the title, Centennial, WBL, EP, Burnsville and Jefferson in the past, and Johnson bef...

My message wasn't saying that they weren't getting a lot of bang for their buck, which was $0... the message was to get the attention of the people in charge of the board. Alerting them that people were using their site to solicit. I have seen message boards where the minute someone posts an adverti...

Come to Ricky's BBB Invitational Celebration of Average Hockey Talent! I am only inviting below-excellent players because I think all of the good guys have been invited to other stuff. My tourney will feature a 'catch up' rule so that when a team gets up by two goals the other team has to skate shor...

A quarter of a century ago there was a team called Team Minnesota. If you wanted to play on team minnesota, you tried out, and played vs. other teams from other states during the summer. If you made it, you probably had some dough, but there was no doubt that you were a great hockey player. The Blad...

UPUCKOFF... are you kidding me? Who makes up rumors like that? I read some of your other posts too... you need a reality check. I just talked to those coaches a couple of weeks ago to set up some games, I almost didn't because I read your post.
