...or Crunch?
Didn't the Crunch just tie the SSM U19 team, after beating the SSM U16 team a month or so ago? Maybe the Crunch will be the team moving on?

How's the season going?
I haven't heard much about the Crunch this winter. How's the season going? I heard somewhere that the Crunch beat the SSM U16 team. Is that true? If so, the team has come a long way in a year+. Who's doing well? Any girls looking at college hockey?

Congratulations Cara and Kallie
Wow - nice pickup by Syracuse to get both of these Hopkins players. Both really nice girls, from great families, and very good hockey players. Every team needs not only skilled players, but even more importantly "good people." Kallie and Cara are both. It's really too bad a WCHA team didn'...

Kuhbander
Carly Kuhbander is indeed a very good player - she gets missed a lot because she did not play for a high profile HS team (St Louis Park) and she has not done a lot of visible summer hockey. But she is an outstanding athlete (used to be good at soccer too) - very good fundamental hockey skills and th...

Elite?
...these are all top level teams, hand picked, and tend to be the same groups of kids over and over. Guess that seems to be how it works. Everyone wants to have all the top kids, but the question would be, who is there left to play, if all are on one or two teams? Are there not more top kids than j...

There are some surprises, but...
No one can reliably predict who the top teams will be 3-4 years down the road. However, esp. since the MSHSL rules limiting transfers went into effect, it is not too difficult to predict the next season - often even 2 seasons out. Alexandria was used as an example of falling down slightly after a nu...

...to stateChamp97 and Sneach13 - Sorry to pick on a specific team - I didn't really mean to do that, accurate or not.
But my central point remains - sections are not competative in the least and the MSHSL should take some steps to improve competative balance.

Opening a can of worms...
I know that this has been talked about ad nauseam, but I think there are two things the MSHSL should be doing: 1) Like in youth soccer, as you win, you are forced to move up a bracket. High school isn’t exactly the same, but when teams like Blake and Breck win year after year after year after year –...

You got that...
He doesn't have it because he has not asked for it... That is exactly my point - 100% right on...he hasn't asked, but the apparent position of the MGHCA is that the coach has to ask. If the coach has little interest in stats then the site stays empty for the team. I'm sure he's not the only coach t...

MGHCA Does Not Think the Details Through...
Regarding the online scoreboard, our coach is not coaching because of his data entry skills. Frankly, he has little interest in the stats - which is fine, because he's a good coach - good with the team. In the past two years I have tried numerous times to be able update the MGHCA site for the team. ...

Many Coaches Don't care...
Many coaches don't care about stats - some actually don't like stats (i.e. "this is a team game and I don't want my players concerned about personal stats..."). Whether that's good or not is debatable, but if the MGHCA relies on their coaches to fill out the stats they will NEVER have a co...

Best Site for boxscore / stats?
Where are the most complete boxscores / stats? Varsityonline? Nope Sportshuddle? Nope Maxpreps? Doesn't seem like it MGHCA? Doesn't seem like it MSHSL? Not so much Minnesota Sports Online (StartTrib)? Game scores, some stats, but not much beyond It seems like this just keeps changing every year. It ...

This just goes to show ya that the cream will rise to the top and you really don't need to do all the off season programs. I hear the spirit of what you're saying, but I'm not sure if I totally agree. I think Berreman is more likely the exception than the rule. I think exceedingly few players could...

Berreman?
Lisa Berreman is an outstanding defender. During the HS season there is no doubt she is among the very best players in the state. I do have a question with offseason - she doesn't appear to tryout for NDP type stuff, no JuniorFest, no Whitecaps/IceCats, no CODP/OS, etc - bottom line is that she does...

HS Elite vs SSM U19
SSM did have Kessel, but no Decker. Shots were officially 35 to 23 in favor of the HS Elite, and I think some people would have counted the shots closer to 40 to 20. The bottom line is that while SSM is a very good team, the HS Elite team by no means "got lucky" today - they were the bette...

Maybe not so much of a gap...
The T-breds shouldn't be dismissed so lightly. The "Elite" team has only practiced together once, and not all the kids were able to make it. Hockey is, after all, a team game. Many of the T-Breds players have been playing together for several years, and all of them having been practicing a...

Thanks JoeHockey!
Joehockey - Thanks for all the updates on the Elite league - I appreciate them. It seems like Thunderbird took some offense at what you were saying. I didn't read your original comments in a negative way - what I thought I heard you saying was the girls on the list are doing great, but many others a...

East vs SSM
The East vs SSM game had to be one of the strangest games I have seen in a long time. The score really did not reflect the play. The #1, #2 and #3 stars of the game were Breanna Decker, Breanna Decker and Breanna Decker - 6g and 4a - 10 of the 12 goals were directly created by Decker. Without Decker...

I agree on the gate
As a parent of a player I am very appreciative of the opportunity the league provides for girls. However, I would much rather pay an extra $100 or something, not have to pay by the game and not have to volunteer to staff the ticket taker job. I understand it takes money to buy ice, pay for refs, etc...

I think I know a few other girls that have committed but I'm really confused by the comment " but out of respect for the player and her family, will not repeat until it's confirmed ." Does that mean that only the player or her family should post something out here? I didn't know that was t...

Not so fast...
Interesting observations this morning, but to me it seems like people are jumping to conclusions really fast based primarily on selection to one team. I would like to make a couple of points: First, there are a number of senior girls who have made commitments already, most of whom have not yet been ...

In the last game of the weekend the IceCats (Press) defeated the younger IceCats 9-1. The older team played pretty well with balanced scoring. I have no idea what shots were, but it was a lot to not many - 45 - 10 maybe? This weekend was really fun to watch - there were some excellent players out th...

Can We Drop These Allegations Someday...
I have no idea what Marci supposedly did at Blaine a few years ago, nor do I really care. However, it seems sad that every time someone says something good about Marci that someone else has to dredge up old tapes from something that supposedly happened years ago. It seems so cowardly to anonymously ...

Only kinda true...
Abe, I know your response was a little truth mixed with a little humor, but still probably somewhat harsh. Sometimes there are VERY legitimate reasons for why a kid would not want to play for her HS team - things that have nothing to do with the player or parents being problems. It is true that ther...
