Bloomington Jefferson
It appears that Jefferson's new coach is Mark Stephan, a pretty serious coach who lead really good Edina teams. What does this mean for Jefferson? Their record was pretty bleak last season, but half their team are 9th & 10th graders, so they'll have a couple years under Stephan. If anyone knows ...

Its about participation. More teams, more participants, and in my book, thats a good thing. Given a choice, I'd choose to let more girls play rather than sitting or cutting girls in order to create one "better" team.

Centennial's had an outstanding youth hockey program for years. As long as thats in place, its a good head start for a HS coach.forwards4ever wrote:Centennial Girls high school hockey coach resigned. Where do the Cougar girls go from here?
Is this good or bad for the Cougar program, anyone have any insight?

North
I never heard anything about the section championship game. Thought it would be Lakeville South going to state, like most people probably did. How'd North pull it off?

hockey day game
I wouldn't take too much from this game. I watched some of it on TV and was disappointed for the players. It was snowing to the point of burying the puck from time to time. Awful conditions. PHM won 4-2, and from what I watched in the first period, was threatening to score much more than Duluth.

Its good to see positive comments for JM/L. Best guess is they'll be lead by the Armstrongs, nelsons, Lemesh and Dekatowski. The capts practice looked good. The girls say that two of the kids that scored a lot in the 4 on 4 league stayed in 14U. JM/L has lots of strong players for the future coming...

2009-2010 Section 1AA
The two Lakevilles, Farmington and Mayo will likely be in the section semi-finals. Lakeville South lost some good players to graduation, but still has the goalie to make them a favorite. Mayo will have to find offense from someone not named Flesher, especially against better teams.

New Prague has joined 1A? They were good in their day, surely they have something left? I'd say Red Wing is #1 till Faribault shows they've gotten better on D.

If your alleging someone in Hopkins is trying to build a "super team", your 100% false. I know the stories of the girls listed above and none were recruited by anyone from the HS program, but I think all knows at least one Hopkins player from off season camps or teams. Yes we will have ki...

Uneventful, no. Its just really a different event because of the circumstances. For many, if not most of the girls and parents, its the end of the line for something thats been part of their lives for many years. So its bittersweet, being both an ending and an honor. Its also not the team they've kn...

Red Wing
Outstanding season for Red Wing! Congratulations to the girls and coach Haley. Finishing the state tournament in 3rd place behind Blake & Warroad is basically the best showing possible. And to make great even better, Rose Aleva earns the Herb Brooks award. And for the rest of section 1A; sorry t...

section 1AA tourney
Here's the brackets: http://www.mshsl.org/mshsl/showxmlbrackets.asp?tournid=65&bracket=4773 In the 1st round, the 4 seed vs 5 seed is Farmington and Owatonna; they played each other January 31st with Farmington winning 3-1. I don't see the other games being even that close, although it'd be nice...

Question for you ghs; in the KRACH system, does the first game of the year mean less to a teams ranking than the most recent games?

Section 1AA 2008-09
Not sure if there's many section 1AA participants in this forum, but since we're closing in on sections, we could take a look. It looks to me like a 4-way standoff at this point, with Farmington, Lakevilles South and North and Rochester Mayo all having a good shot at winning the section. I'm not sur...

AL v. Faribault
I'd guess AL over Faribault. AL's first line is more dangerous more often than Faribault's first line, IMO anyway.hockeygroupie wrote:Albert Lea-Faribault Tuesday-Dec. 16 @ Faribault

juniorfest
I'm a little disappointed in this year's Juniorfest format. As I understand it, its a format designed to present top 11th grade players to college scouts. Has this always been the reason for MGHCA to hold this event? I guess I'd prefer that scouting were a secondary concern. There's already NDP phas...

There are some Junior Fest items on the MGHCA website, and by looking at the schedule, it appears that there are 6 teams. Is there a Wisconsin team? A Shattuck team?
